interior lights strange problem

Featured Replies

Recently my superb has developed a strange fault ,the interior lighting will not come on when you open the doors but the puddle and footwell lights do,

now if you manually switch the top interior lights on, (front and back) they work i just dont understand why they do not come on when you open the doors, they are in the correct switch position, any advice welcome :smirk:

Thanks for that, i have looked under both the driver side which is dry, now i lifted the front passenger side carpet up and found it to be wet underneath, there is a black box under there, is this the item that goes faulty? can you take it out easily?

Yes that's the CCM

which is more likely to be at fault, you need to take it out, dry it and replace any wires that have started to corrode on the loom.

thanks for the reply is the ccm easy to take out, is their any step by step guides? also is this related to my boot not opening from the inside switch, it will only open on the key thob?? thanks again. :)

Never done it myself (i removed the plenum chamber bungs and sealed the pollen filter housing before mine leaked) but it cant be difficult:

disconnect battery,

remove the two covers in plastic trims covering the runners, remove the small torx screw then lift the trims out,

remove the two 13mm nuts in front of the seat (in the middle)

unplug all the wires going to the seat and lift out the seat,

lift the carpet up and there it is.

The only 'problem' i can see is if the battery is disconnected then you can't test each wire for power etc, BUT if you leave the battery connected you will get an airbag fault light on, meaning you need VCDS to turn it off again.

thankyou very much for the info, how did you seel the pollen filter, did you just run silicone round the actual filter?

You have to remove the three 8mm(IIRC?) nuts that hold the pollen filter housing to the bulkhead (the one by the wing is a tw@ to get to!) have a look here for more info (the pictures were lost when the servers were changed).

Once the housing if off remove the pathetic foam 'seal' (it doesn't seal!) and run a nice thick bead of sealant all around where the foam seal went and replace.

I have done this job to the last three Superb's I have had. I would suggest the elusive one by the wing not be totally removed, only loosened, as the pollen filter housing can be slotted out away from this bolt when the other 2 are removed.

Hope this helps.
