Bonnet stuck shut :-(

Featured Replies

Hi, I recently bought a 2001 Fabia 1.4 16v that had been off the road for a year or so with a blown engine (to rebuild or replace???). The first problem I've encountered is that I cannot open the bonnet. Tugging on the lever (ooo-er Mrs) does not cause the bonnet to stir and I cannot find any other obvious way of releasing the bonnet . Any suggestions short of attacking it with an angle grider?

Thanks in anticipation,

Paul

Spray it all with WD-40 or something? Even better if you can get up under the car and spray it from there.

Does the lever poke out of the grille, or is it the one inside the cabin that's not working?

Also, if it's a 1.4 16v, is it the piston rings that have gone?

*edit*

Love your list of cars under your user namme and the way it ends in etc as if it's common to have that many!

easiest way if the cable is'nt working would be to break the grill and open manually.

Hi, I'll try pickling it WD40 and try to get someone to the bonnet a good smack while I am pulling the lever. Suspect blown head gasket but we'll see when get the head off (if I can open the bonnet!!!) My profile is out of date: I've collected a Felicia L+K with full leather interior, Rapid Cabrio, 120L 5speed and Felicia Diesel since it was last updated. Sadly the quattro has gone though, too much of a money pit.

Cheers,

Paul
