Whiteline do an adjustable 24mm rear bar for the Mk5 Golf, but there's been no confirmation that this can be included within the GB. Sounds like you'll need to speak to Balance about it.

In the meantime I've gone for a 25mm Autotech bar.

Yes that's right as per the Group Buy thread, it says

"If you need a different fitment, then i'd suggest contacting Balance Direct to enquire making it clear you are part of the group buy as advertised on the Briskoda forum".

Whilst i'd love to be able to help everyone out with there enquiries, i would just be contacting Balance and then letting you know what they say, so it seems far more efficient for any queries to go to them direct.

Balance appear to have been really 1st class on this group buy to date, so it is worth giving them a shout first thing Tuesday for anyone still interested.

Well my bar arrived today.

This is your last chance to grab a bargain so get ordering tonight if you want in!

Well my bar arrived today.

me too

Weekend can't arrive soon enough to fit.

Balance also wanted me to highlight that it is the last day tomorrow for buying at the 15% discount. As indicated earlier they have been excellent in honouring all purchases made at the group buy rate even though few orders have been made.

The bar looks very solid and a pretty straight forward DIY fit and at a price of £150 for the adjustable bar (cheaper for the Fabia) it has to be one of the best mods you can do for the money.

Why has this group buy only been offered for such a short amount of time? I have just read this post now and it has already closed! Are people who registered their interest (i.e. me) not notified when it is set up?

If this is offered again is the 22mm one suitable for the Octy mk II VRS? I thought it would be thicker and be adjustable :(

FAIL

Yeah, it did seem an incredibly short GB didn't it!!

Oh well, guess I'll have to wait until the next one.

They list a 24mm adjustable if you look up the Golf Mk5 options on their website. Why it's not listed under the Octy2 options I don't know.

Guys, Balance were kind enough to offer a GB at 15% discount. They decided the timescales, which seems fair enough given it is their special deal and were only offering ARBs from their stock. I went to the trouble to try and get this going and posted several times on different forums to make members aware. i don't have time to PM everyone, and felt that anyone interested should be kept tabs on the thread if they were interested. I agree it was relatively short, but that is up to the suppliers to decide

Balance stated that fewer than the 7 required orders were placed in the end, but they still honoured the discount for members who had placed orders which i felt was absolutely the decent thing to do.

With respect to the next one. Unless someone organises it, then there will not be a next one. Anyone who does this on their own back deserves a pat on the back, as it is hassle and time consuming and ultimately you feel a little bit responsible when members who said they were defo in on the deal, then don't follow up. That's the way it goes though. I know a few members got their bars (as i did), and despite some install hassle and personally pleased with the result.

Its very good that you took the time to organise this groupbuy, and I understand why you are left feeling a little flat by the experience. But to be fair the retailer was nowhere to be seen, and his posting in the thread would prob have got more interest going and he could have answered questions in the thread. I only saw around 3 people say they were def taking one, every one else just voiced interest if the price was right.

You have a point there. Balance are not however (as far as i can see) a registered site sponsor, and as i understood from Julian at BM the hardware they buy and sell on, doesn't generate the kind of margins you might get doing remap work for example. Therefore the amount of business drumming that was evident say for the Shark remap deal was considerably more. Sadly i missed out on this, as i couldn't afford everything i convinced myself i needed all at once, so will have to wait for the next remap deal to come along. :'(

I also had a number of pm's about the deal, so i had calculated that we should have made around 10 orders. The snag was (apart from the short duration), some members wanted items that were not currently held in stock by BM. Saying that, i don't see why anyone still interested who missed out cannot just give them a buzz explaining the situation and see what they can do. Their normal retail is amongst the cheapest available anyway that i found, so even a 5 or 10% discount is unlikely to be bettered.

good luck.
