Please help! Central Locking not working!

Featured Replies

Hey Guys

I have a 53 plate Octavia VRS.

OK from the start...a couple of days ago i noticed that the red immobiliser light on the drivers door is on constantly (even when driving), when the car is locked the light is on constant but you can see it flash brighter.

However the car will not lock now by remote or key, the key fob battery has been changed and the light on the fob is blinking as usual. The indicators flash when i try to lock/unlock the car as usual, but only the boot locks/unlocks! The car has been 'delocked' all but the boot, but even if i try using the key only the boot will lock/unlock.

If i disconnect and then reconnect the battery, the car will lock but as soon as you unlock it again it wont lock again.

Any ideas???? i am going out of my mind now!!!

Thanks in advance!

Hi

I had a problem witht the central locking on my Octavia a couple of years ago. Skoda dealer was a waste of time. I took it to a local garage and it had them beat as well, however luckily for me the owner has a stubborn mindset and he wasn't going to let it beat him. He spent a whole Saturday going through the door loom wiring wire by wire. He eventually traced the problem down to a corroded connector inside the multiplug that connects to the control module on the drivers door window motor module. It would appear that any water seeping past the window rubber drips straight onto this plug. To the naked eye everything appeared fine, but it was only when you tugged gently on the affected wire and it 'popped out' that the problem became apparent. I would make that my starting point, check the continuity of the circuit through the plug, and check all the connectors are present on the module.

My repair finally involved a replacement door control module (connector had corroded off), new door loom, new mirror switch (fault had shorted it), and a roll of self amalgamating tape to seal the whole thing up as Skoda should have done in the first place. I understand the setup in the other doors is similar.

I was lucky to have the garage I did, he never charged me for the Saturday work, however the total bill still came to over £600. The garage provided me with a courtesy car, repaired with no hesitation some damage that it sustained overnight whilst parked at their premises (fuel customer reversed into it) and as a good will gesture repaired some other wear and tear body work free of charge.
