Advice / Help needed - just ordered Octavia vRS

Featured Replies

Hi

Looking for some reassurance / peace of mind and was hoping someone in here could help.

On Friday I ordered an Octavia vRS TDi CR having gone through DTD.

I spoke to the dealer and I asked them for confirmation that I was buying the CR version, which they did.

When I got my confirmation through on Monday, under model of car it states "Octavia TDI PD CR". Given the fact that it stated PD and CR I was confused so I called and spoke to the dealer and they confirmed that it was the CR I had ordered and that the PD in the title is "just what they call it". Now everything that I have seen written about the Octavia vRS CR never makes any mention of PD in the title so I am more than a little skeptical.

Now I have read some horror stories of people not getting the engine / spec that they ordered and I am concerned that this is also happening to me and that I will get the old PD engine. I have asked for written confirmation that they have ordered the common rail engine which they said they would, but so far nothing and when I tried to call earlier they were "too busy" to take my call!

I was hoping that someone that has ordered and received a vRS CR could confirm what their confirmation paper work said to put my mind at rest (although it could make me more worried!!!). Given the fact that I have to wait 12 to 14 weeks for delivery I would hope that its being made to order and that its got the new engine but I can't help but be a little worried.

Thanks in advance.

Hi,

If you've ordered the diesel you'll be getting the CR - this engine replaced the PD unit in the vRS yonks ago, so rest assured this is what you'll get. Good choice, it's a cracking good engine.

Thanks for the response Bob.

Any idea why the model has pd and cr in it? I can't help feeling a little worried and that the dealer is going to somehow give me a car with the pd engine!

Dont worry..Its the CR engine..and its a cracker.

Great choice

Have you a delivery date yet?

Around 8 weeks is normal at the moment

Been told between 12 and 14 weeks which seems a long while!!!

It will definitely be a CR, IIRC some of my paperwork said PD

Mine took 16 weeks from ordering to collection

I got the PD by mistake, but noticed it after 50 miles. The dealer changed it for a CR without quibbling - but this was back in April 2009, when the CR was new to the vRS. There should be no confusion now: other diesel Octavias are still (unfortunately) powered by PD engines - this may have caused the error in the paperwork.
