Windscreen mark

Featured Replies

Would welcome advice about a clear line where the nearside wiper has finished its travel in the centre of thre screen ,it goes when the washer is on then comes back when dried. I think it happened when i cleaned it with Autoglym windscreen cleaner and the lh side wiper blade picked up the polish .Have used methlated spirit and again the cleaner but still got that line. I also noticed that the arc of both wipers show against the unwiped area when dry. My thought are using a power tool with mop on to go over all screen but feel a bit cold feet in doing so, what do you think?.

I've had the same thing ever since i put Halfords Rain Repellent on my windscreen.

I tried claying the window and giving it a good clean which worked for a bit...........but its back again.

Will watch with interest.

You could try using Jewellers Rouge, I have used this successfully for removing small scratch marks from my drives door window, caused by winding the window up and down went its dirty. You can usually find some on e-bay. It can be time consuming to use though.

What Autoglym windscreen cleaner did you use, was it the glass polish? If not then you could try this, again I have had no problems with using this to clear build up on windscreens in the past, but it does say on the instructions to clean the wiper blades afterwards. ;)

I did use Autoglym glass polish on the wipers as well.

I use a bit of meths to clean my wiper blades occasionally, not sure that putting the glass cleaner on the wipers will help? Does sound like you need to have another go at the windscreen. Maybe try some vinegar, my grandmother used to swear by this and a bit of newspaper for getting glass really clean.

Try automotive glass polish, this contains very fine abrasives, similar to T-Cut, you may be able to polish out the mark.

I have this too - I think it's due to the wiper stopping and changing direction and it wears the cleaner residue off quicker. I use Rain-X on mine and when the mark gets too bad, I know it's time to re-apply. I'm doing the screen about once a week at the mo due to lots of miles, lots of screenwash and lots of rain/snow meaning lots of wiper use.

Well today its snowing and the LH wiper gets to that mark and it is distracting, being right in front of me..With the wipers going and washers being used (VG type) i really have to sort this out.Really thinking of going down the road regarding the polishing mop method.. Will let you know.
