Convince me a Yeti is for me

Featured Replies

Currently got a Fabia vRS, we have two greyhounds so only way to get them in the Fabia is to drop the rear seats.

I've looked at the Yeti and like what I see, CR170 Elegance would be idea, small boot is the issue with dogs.

Octavia vRS CR170 estate or 1.8 TSi estate would obviously be idea for the hounds but buying a car purely for the dogs isn't right.

Does anyone on here have a couple of reasonable size dogs and get them into the Yeti? I played with Yeti seats in a local dealer, but didn't do the complete seat fold up.

How easy are the rear seats to fold? Are they heavy, or easy to rearrange?

So Yeti drivers, sell the Yeti to me, before I end up buying an Octavia. I know if the Octy was right I would already have one on order.

The Yeti will be just like any other hatch in that the rear boot is too small for average to large size dogs. You either have to pt the rear seats down or buy another car! I could squeeze two Irish Wolfhounds in the the rear of a mall hatch with the back seats down but they where far more comfortable in a full sized 4x4 with plenty of room to move about. Having a massive soppy wet kiss or hot breath down the back of ones neck from behind could be rather fun though. :giggle:

I know exactly what greyhound kisses are like when driving and they are not fun, as for breath phew :S

Seats are extremely easy to fold. I haven't taken mine out but they feel solidly heavy! I haven't got a dog so can't comment on the fitment thereof. emoticon-0145-shake.gif

I'm currently trying to persuade SWMBO to change her old Subaru Legacy Estate Auto for a Yeti 1.2 DSG and her only reservation is whether or not there would be enough space in the back for our greyhound. I've also been into the showroom and played around with the seats and am not sure if there's quite enough room, even with the rear seats slid forward (unfortunately the middle seat doesn't slide as far forward as the other two).

However, I think the backs of the rear seats tilt forwards a few inches from their standard position (as well as reclining) and when they are in their most upright position there does look like there would be more room for old 'tuna breath' to squeeze in. I know from having two dogs previously that they do require significantly more room that one so this may not help Dsemuk too much.

In my opinion it's simply not safe for dogs to be in a car unless they're contained behind a secure dog guard so dropping the back seats isn't a long term option for me.

Great forum by the way.

Don't buy a Yeti - defintely buy an Octavia.

(i would rather keep the Yeti rare on our roads - than convince fair weather buyers that this is the car for them!!!)

Sorry too many people come on this forum 'expecting us' to sell the Yeti over cars they are currently considering. Mainly Octavias, Golfs, Tiguans etc etc. We've all done our research, visted showrooms, test drove them, read countless reviews.

dsemuk - if you got Dogs, obviously an estate car is better for transporting them than a small SUV.

I totally agree with you Krooked

Except for the above. The hair on my Golden Retriever used to stick the black upholstery on my Octy 2 Elegance Estate. The hair doesn't stick to the leather on my Yeti B)
