% discount on new car extra's?

Featured Replies

Just pricing up a new Vrs at the moment, I know the discounts and price reductions available on the base model.

But what sort of % discount have people obtained when adding to a factory order?

My local dealer reckons extras are full price, end of story. I'm not convinced, Any chance of a 10% drop on the extras do we think? My extras add upto around 2.5k so if I could drop that by £250 I'd feel like I had a better deal!

I'm willing travel to anywhere in the UK for a dealer who can discount just a little bit!!

Factory options are included in the VAT offer, although some dealers are saying this is not the case.

Options are free of VAT under the current offer. Group all the options together with the price of the car and get him to give you his best price VAT removed plus a bit more. Then email that price around a few dealers and ask them to beat it. Rainworth Skoda come in at a very competitive price.

According to Skoda's adverts in the national press, any factory-fitted options should be discounted to the current rate of VAT, just like the Octavia itself (i.e. 17.5%).

Try and find a Skoda advert in a newspaper / car magazine to take along to the dealer's.

You're dealer is trying it on !

ALL my options were VAT free.

Cool, cheers guys I thought that'd be the case. I'd swear some dealers think people will just pay whatever figure they dream up! Thank god for the internet eh?!

I'll contact Rainworth Skoda as well for a quote.

Ohh and just one more question... I'd like to buy from a local dealer if they can get anywhere near the DtD price. But does anyone know if you can use the 0% finance offer in conjunction with a DtD order?

DtD just puts you in touch with a main dealer, so you can use all the finance offers advertised.

I used DtD. 0% was done via the dealer. Discount applied to all options and you can see what it is on the DtD site by getting a quote for the options.

+1 - options should all be included in 0% offer. Mine also were.

When I ordered my vRS from DTD, all the factory fit options were discounted at the same %'age as the car - in my case 22%.

As all the others say, DtD, 0% and VAT free plus a fair bit more. Sorted!

Sweet, thanks guys, that's re-assuring info.

I think I was fed some 'bull' by my local dealer, They reckoned DtD prices were just estimates and that the promised car would never arrive, if it did arrive then the price will be increased.

Good to know they are simply trying to pull a fast one and earn an easy sale. If they cant get very close to the DtD price then I will have no hesitation in walking away and placing the order through DtD.

DtD are 100% pucka, what they quote is what you pay, its all 100% and there's loads of us that use them. It seems the "modern" way now, then sell your p/x private or one of those webuyyourcar type websites.

whereabouts are you, Keith ? that might help us recommend a local.
