Another blue VRS

Featured Replies

Collected my blue (yes another blue) VRS petrol hatch a couple of days ago and very very pleased so far. Lovely car to drive.

My order was placed at the end of september through DTD with maxidot, curtain airbags, rear parking sensors, xenons, leather, heated front seats. The delivery time seems in line with others here, and was bang on Skoda's original quoted build date.

It seems that I am in a minority taking delivery in February instead of waiting for the 10 plate but have no regrets not waiting a few more weeks.

Some images are below, apologies for the poor quality of some of the pics, taken with my phone in poor light.....

My only gripe is that the interior door panel on the drivers side is a little loose compared to the passenger side, not a big issue but I may take it to the delaer to see if they can get it tightened up.

Cracking!!

Only 3 weeks to go!!

Have to say, the full black leather looks fantastic.

As a proud new owner, I would be grateful for any advice on the following:

1. The petrol cap recommends super, but to a min RON 95, which is standard unleaded. Does it matter ? Unleaded or super unleaded ?

2. Should I to 'wax' the car to give the bodywork some initial protection, and if so, any products, procedures to recomend ?

3. Running in. I'm following the car manual's direction of easy driving for 1500km. This is testing my powers of self control to breaking point, is it vital to drive easy, and if so how easy ?

In years gone by, a car would get an oil change after running-in, but the initial service is at 20k miles, this seems like a long time.

Ans: Use standard unleaded

Use a sealer ...then add a wax..I use a glaze too, before the sealer...Poorboys Blackhole is superb

Dont go above 3000 rpm for the first 500 miles.then gradually from then for the next 500...Frusrating as it is, it will protect your engine

Longlife oil is used..Its NOT a problem

Chris is correct - use a sealant then a wax if you want to, though not really important. A sealant can't bond to a glaze so I would miss that out personally.

Nope, use super.

They can be run on 95ron for a "short periods with reduced performance".

Vw recommends super plus 98 oct for these engines but as the comment above says it can run on 95 also but i know that some MK5 GTi owners had some problems after running the TFSI engines on 95 for long periods. I know the new one is a TSI but the same applies.

I was told that the new tsi engine was made to run on 95 all the time, which was kind of a selling point for me because my work fuel card doesn't let me buy 98ron
