the car will be 100% reliable after a remap unless there is an underlying issue with yoyur car. the most common fault is the old style diverter valve splitting, but thats not a problem as the new style is £50 from the dealers and is a much better design.

try the STS handset from ben. dead easy to use, and you can do it from your own home. ive not driven a car with shark stage 1 yet but have heard positive things from the guys with it. i have driven the stage 2 and i have the stage 3 and they are very good

Im running a stage 1 remap using the STS unit and the difference is night and day, and as vRSy says ,the new diverter valve is a good investment as no rubber diaphragm to split.

Where is the Diverter valve if I`m not being thick, cheers

Underneath the car on the turbo. Pain in the ass to get to but do-able. it might no tneed changing. i had my car mapped for about 8000 miles before it went. the new D revision has done 18k and is still going strong.

Fully recommend making the trip down to Mansfield. I did on Saturday just gone and have no regrets. Car is going in for some Warranty work on unrelated to the Remap next week so i am De-tuning myself using the STS to ensure the garage are none the wiser ;) Added bonus!!

The car is an absolute dream to drive now, no longer doubting my decision to change cars last month. I see you're in Baildon, I'm only in Saltaire so happy to take you for a spin if you like?

Edit: just realised that you have an Octavia so playing out in my Furby will be of no interest to you haha!!

Just got stage one Revo . car fast and soooo smooooth

Ive got a custom revo stage 2 which was done by Kev from revo, He mapped my car on the road as we are a official revo agent where i work (done to demonstrate a custom map) . But ive driven Bens car (shark performance) and i would recommend having a talk to him as i was impressed with how his car drove Admited its a lot less aggresive than the revo in my oppinion but the power delivery at mid rev range was GOOD and pulled strong and with no and i mean no fuel cuts!

What's recommended for the cr 170 diesel engine in the VRS?

Revo or Bluefin or maybe by the time I get my 170CR, Shark will have their STS available for this motor. I would definitely want to be able to switch between remapped and stock.

id agree with that after having driven bothrevo and shark at stage 2. The surge from REVO feels great but makes it a little harder to get the power down, the shark stage 2 seems a lot more progressive in its delivery which is especially helpful in the wet

Had my Superb PD140 remaped by Ben (Shark Performance), supposed to be 180 BHP now and certainly feels like it, bonus is engine is smoother and revs better after 3000 rpm, after about 600 miles I am getting 2mpg more!

Well I`m happy with my revo, as standard i allways got wheelspin in 1st but power now more linear . Rang ben first anyway but he never answered his phone! Also if he was nearer, it would help as i never know more than one day in advance about days off, so hard to plan. Booked day off in April to see Ben21

It's very rare I miss a call, and even rarer that I don't call back. Which number did you call? Office or mobile?

Slight thread hijack, but related I think....

Would people be willing to share info re how much your insurance premium goes up with one of these remaps?

My insurance on my last policy went up £27 if i remember right but only had about 4 months to go, i am now paying £231 fully comp with intake and stage 1 map both declared , on my octy tfsi ,mind you i have full no claims and am an old fecker, some places were wanting a fortune ,i ended up going with the RAC as some of the so called specialists were not so special.

I had remap on my MK1 for 40000 miles/2.5 years with no issues at all - at 85000miles original everthing was still running perfect.

This experience gave me full confidence in remapping and recently I had my new FL petrol hatch rolling road and AMD remapped at AMD 198BHP standard 264BHP after.... tho many on here suggest AMD rollers are out ,,,tho the initial run seems about spot on... It makes me grin when i put my foot down!

Insurance wise not too much of problem about £80 a year more tho I will ring round for better deal when I have the time..... when I got MK1 done the insurance actually dropped for some reason via Chris Knott brokers.

It was the office one i think. Expected it to go to a machine. No sweat i am not sugesting you ignore customers , my brother has his own business and nobody could get through for 4 days but rang as normal. You seem a top bloke, wasn`t the only reason as explained before

66hp or 30% increase on a stage 1 remap alone - I think something definitely is out.
