Rear Parking Sensor Issue

Featured Replies

Morning All,

The reverse parking sensors on my VRS have decided to mess with my head. They've recently stopped working and now as soon as I put the car in reverse it makes a normal budup kind of beep then a constant beeeeeeeeeeeeeeep. What on earth is going on. I thought initially it could just be dirt on the sensors so have given them a wipe but still no joy.

Or if all else fails is there a way to removeve the beeper easily without simply cutting the wires? The wife won't be driving it so don't need them anyway :giggle:

Any ideas?

Cheers

Alan

Were the sensors factory-fitted?

I believe so, got it booked in with garage as still under warranty. Good point if they're not factory fit. What's a telltale sign of them been factory fit?

They will look tidy!

Factory fit sensors are flush in the bumper, most after market sensors sit proud on the bumper, more like a stuck on pad.

Not all after market installations look bad,

If the sensors are body colored it leans on the factory side though, but after market sensors are still paintable.

If they're not in the black rubbing strip they'll most likley be after market.

Most non painted after market sensors are glossy, factory ones tend to be matt/satin if not painted,

It might have a 3-digit "option code" on the sticker in the tyre-well - not sure, but it might be worth a try?
