clutch squeal

Featured Replies

My vRS is currently experiencing an intermittent squeal when lifting the clutch in 1st and 2nd gears only.

Once the car is moving an you make gear changes there is never any squeal. It only seems to happen in either 1st or 2nd gear from a standing start.

I uprated my clutch to a ceramic paddle clutch 2yrs ago but dont drive particularly fast.

Does anyone have any ideas what it could be? I seem to have convinced myself it only happens when its wet outside.

Strange one this, as if it's the clutch, you would expect it to make the noise in all gears, unless it's very torque specific.

I would bet it's actually the aux drive belt or alternator pulley clutch, try loading the electrics by turning everything on and see if the noise changes. The Aux drive belt tensioner would also be worth checking.

Mine squeals in the lower gears, but only if the aircon is switched on which makes me think it's not the clutch.
