BP now upto 7% Biodiesel and Skodas

Featured Replies

Filled up at BP yesterday. Noticed a sticker above the pump, stating it now contains upto 7% bio diesel. I'm presuming it'll be ok. Any thoughts?

Thats no more than any other fuel supplier. All diesel sold in europe contains at least 5% bio and has done for quiet some time now.

Just seemed wierd that they've now decided to put a sticker on the pumps

It's just marketing *******s to get morons to just go to them for their Diesel.

All of my Skodas (And other PD engined cars) have run on far more Bio than that for many many miles. My Roomster is currently on 100% and it's been great even over the cold snap....

has anyone noticed any difference in performance/mpg since they started adding bio crap over the past couple of years?

It's not.

My local Shell has added these stickers which state the Up to 7% biodiesel stating it is required under 2009 Fuel Labelling act or something similar. It seems to be a legal thing.

So why does my fuel filler flap have a sign that says NO biodiesel ?

This has been covered on here before. 7% is the new legal maximum bio content that fuel can contain without marking the content on the pump. I'm not sure every petrol company will want to shout about this, as the bio content has been causing problems with blocked filters in the pumps:

Thanks for that , but my real question is , the label in my car clearly states NO Biodiesel . By merely filling my car with diesel I have now , de facto used Biodiesel ...........

Does this mean that I have now invalidated my warranty for anything relating to the fuel system ?

As far as I know any car sold in the EU after Jan 05 or 06 ( can't remember exactly when ) has to be able to take 5% Bio Diesel or Petrol without any adverse effects.

Can't say for certain what will happen going from 5% to 7% but suspect it will be OK.

Going up to 85% Bio is another matter all together.

Stewart.

I got caught short & had to use a Morrisons last night, their pump stated 7% bio too.

Done 50 miles since with no difference noticed over the Shell that she's been running on recently.

The 1.9TDI will run BD20 without issue despite what the filler cap says except in stupidly cold weather where starting is likely to be more difficult, that said the same is true on normal derv hence why they alter the mix in winter. BD5 or BD7 won't cause issues even in cold weather unless you live in the likes of Sweden where the bin's weren't collected in December as it hit -35c, apparently up to about -30 life goes on as normal though.
