Traction Control Fault

Featured Replies

Evening fellow Briskodians,

Driving around today and my traction control light has reared its head, Remians on and re-appears after turning car off. I don't have VAG.COM to look at the error codes, does anybody have any advice for what I should have a look at tommorrow to see if I can fix the issue.

Thanks

Sid

usually air mass meter, but get the faults read

Can also be wheelspin sensor in the hub iirc

Well seems my brake lights have gone off too now, reader comes up with a brake light switch fault, could this be the cause of the traction control light?

Only other code was Turbo to throttle pressure drop, is this likely to be a split pipe?

Thanks

Sid

It could be the brake light switch, since Skodas are supposed to turn the fuelling right down if you press the brake pedal.

I'd change the switch, then clear the codes, give it a run, and read them again.

If you've got time, take the drivers side front wheel off and check the pipes between the turbo and the intercooler are still connected properly, the bit of hose joining the pancake pipe to the intercooler on mine popped off and this put the traction control light on as well as throwing the "Pressure drop between turbo and throttle body" code. Didn't have to get the wheel off to know something was wrong though, my car sounded like a Spitfire and went into limp mode until I got it home!

Hi Sid, would you let me know how you get on with this please - mine has just lit up on the way home tonight - too dark to check it out now. The LED on the ASR switch doesn't light either when I press it....

Hi mate I had a look at mine last night and disconnected the brake switch on the pedal, and replaced and wallah so far lights are back on and the Traction control light has gone off. Checked it over with my code reader and no longer showing an error in the ABS. Need to check it over again today to see if things are still ok (and if my other fault is cleared or not.) Hope yours is as simple as mine mate.

The LED on the ASR switch doesn't light either when I press it....

On my TDi there isn't a light on the ASR switch (or what ever my TDi has), just the a light on the dash that comes on when you "turn the switch off" to warn it has been disabled.

52 reg Elegance; has LED in switch and IIRC illuminates the idiot light as well when ASR is turned off.

Pretty sure mine just has the normal green switch lighting in it. I will check on my way home tonight (2001 Elegance) - just been out at lunchtime but did not see this post till I got back from Pizza Hut (14 slices for lunch.... yum yum!)

Thanks for the reply mbames - mine definately used to light up when presses and then went out when you pressed again though.

Thanks Sid, got the feeling mine will be a bit more complex though as the CEL has come on too now...

Checked mine on the way home just now - definitely only get the symbol on the dash, nothing on the actual switch other than the standard back-illuminated ASR text.

Same here, 110tdi 03 reg

Little picture of a wheel comes on dash when ASR is deactivated only. No change to the actual switch itself.

Weird - I must have either imagined it or been confusing it with the demist button! Thanks for clearing that up both of you. I'm currently thinking the MAF might be the cause, going to clean it this weekend as per the instructions on brisky...
