Trade in price

Featured Replies

Was browsing the magazine at the supermarket the other day and as they were a bit **** I thought I'd have a look in Parkers at the value of my car.

For an Octavia vRS, proper fuel, 08/08, they had the price up around £12K.

What Car had the price around £9K.

This is a big difference so which is correct?

Or are they both wrong?

If any dealers interested in giving an idea of what they would offer using the information which is not avilable to the general public this would be much appreciated.

Just to note after some discussion with the Mods, I am not trying to sell my car on Briskoda whilst not a Freedom member, I'm just curious as to how accurate the price guides available to the public are.

I used parkers guide when i part ex'd my car and it was pretty much spot on.

Hmm I thought that was quite a high trade in value, I'm sure I got offered less than £12K back last summer when I was half thinking about a new Superb.

Perhaps prices have strengthened since then (or I was getting a damn good shafting from the dealer).

FYI, Mine's similar in spec and year; WBAC.com £10.5k ish

I would expect them to be offering less than a dealer would give, seems to me to be a last resort option for selling a car.

I just got 5K for my 2005(55) reg octy 2.0PD TDi elegance with 92K miles on the clock if thats any help.

Had my 07 VRS looked up in Glass's a couple of weeks ago and it was over £9k

WBAC.com gave me £1000 more than the stingy Skoda dealer offered me in PX against a 2008Vrs last year.

The Skoda dealer declined my suggestion that they should match the price then they could have driven it down there to get their cash!..

I sold to WBAC, the next day when the draft cleared I picked up the VRS. This left a bad taste.

I'm very pleased with the VRS which I did get for a bargain price, but in my opinion Skoda dealers try to rip you off with PX. Beware!. Explore other avenues rather than PX if at all possible!!

in my case the wbac.com price was £500 less than the skoda dealer offered me.

When I was negotiating to buy my current car at the end of 2007, I got exact book price for my car, the chap I was dealing with showed me the book, and for a 2005 Octavia vRS with 35000miles he gave me the exact price.

With hindsight I should have checked Parkers and What Car
