Autoglym deep shine polish for dark cars

Featured Replies

As above, I got a bottle of this yesterday. Thought it would complement my black Octavia nicely, but being reletively new to the whole detailing thing, thought I'd ask the pro's for any feedback on this product?

As above, i'm considering my first whole detail soon (high hopes for the weather!) since I got the car in the latter months of last year, it's not been treated to a proper clean yet. I'll be sure to read my way through the FAQs and guides as I intend to have a go at claying, and maybe invest in a polishing machine, however I'm teriffied of damaging the paint!

AG UDS is an all in one product, with paint cleaners, and sealant. I have a bottle but only tried it once. Finish is OK, but buffing it off was extremely hard work.

If you get a DA I find Menzerna Power Finish on orange menz pad corrects swirls, then Menzerna Final Finish on Menz yellow pad gives excellent gloss. After that wax or sealant of choice. I'm currently using Megs NXT2.0 Tech Wax, but might be trying FK1000P soon.

Deep shine's not a bad polish, but I prefer the result that SRP gives, even on dark cars

Welcome to the 'expensive' world of 'detailing'..........

Can I ask is your car brand new or is is a second hand motor?

If it's brand new I wouldn't expect too many swirls and scratches as I have found new motor's from the Skoda Dealer's are pretty well prepped so you may not need a DA to apply any polish, etc.

You may just want to lay down a good wax for this time fo the year that you can source for under £20 if required, I can't comment on AG UDS as it's something I have not used before, just not a fan of the brand or some of their other products.

With regards to worrying about damaging the paintwork, just be confident, do some research as you will find if you go in tip-toeing around the car then something normally happens.......... :o

If the car is new..Try Poorboys Black Hole Glaze:

It's second hand, on an 03 plate infact! It's generally in very good nick, but years of washing have resulted in some swirl marks, however the paint still does have a nice shine. I'm just looking to get rid of the light swirling and a few very light scratches. Infact, they wouldn't even bother me if I hadn't looked through this forum and realised that a panel which I thought looked well finished can be transformed even further!

Fair enough then mate, your best applying something like AG Super Resin Polish before another product in order to fill up some of those swirl marks to help achieve a better finish but as stated above 'Black Hole' is pretty good..........
