To retrim or not to retrim?

Featured Replies

These cream seats are doing my head in as they mark so easy and with the job i do i could realy do with a darker colour pref leather so the choices i have get a full retrim or try getting hold of a leather set of seats from another fabia then sell my set? not sure what to do for the best am i right in thinking a retrim is going to be around a grand ? and does any one have any idea how much a leather set of seats would set me back?

I'd have thought that leather fabia seats are going to be pretty scarce. :'(

I believe that they were a £1,300 option on the vRS (with few takers) or standard in the 1000 SEs produced.

I'd say that you're correct about the price of a retrim. If you went down that route tho, you'd be able to customise the retrim to your exact specification, making the result more individual.

If it helps, I love the leather in my SE and believe that its better quality than the leather in my previous car (Audi A3 S-Line 2.0 TFSI) which suffered badly from sagging! - I'd suggest that you try to find a breakers yard with a damaged SE

Dealer fit option - only from approx 2006? Noted "TBA" on pdf brochure downloaded 2/06.

Looks good if you do the doors too - here's mine:

Quite a lot of members (including me) have had a re-trim at Seat Surgeons in York.

I ran a Group Buy there back in 2008 - have a look at Posts #10,11 and 12 in http://briskoda.net/forums/topic/112637-seat-surgeons-group-buy/ for some examples of their work.

Price was £750 plus VAT but give them a ring and speak to Paul - he's usually willing to do a deal!

I think you would be hard pushed to find someone wanting to do a swap - a few of the first people to have retrims did it when they came to sell their cars but they tended to swap with owners of new low mileage cars so that they got a decent set of originals.

Other than that its a case of looking at the breakers - although bear in mind the SE seats had blue trim (and didn't come with leather doorcards unlike Seat Surgeons jobs).

another thumbs up for seat surgeons had my vrs done and my dads caddy
