Clutch Dilemma! Please Help!

Featured Replies

Hiya guys, i'm currently booked in at my local skoda dealer to have a new flywheel fitted under warranty this friday. My car is 57-plate octy vrs tdi pd.

I reckon i'll need a new clutch and release bearing assembly too. To me it makes sense-these bits are going to be virtually swappable anyway given the

flywheel is being removed and replaced. Problem is, the dealer won't automatically replace my clutch assembly and release bearing free of charge under the flywheel

job unless they too are damaged. Is this right? They have said that only if there is clear and obvious damage to the clutch assembly and release bearing will they do

them free of charge. They said that skoda uk will bill the dealership if it found that these other parts were not damaged. Is this true? I can understand it if it is but

i'm worried that the clutch may have 'hidden' wear/premature damage due to the flywheel fault. Also, i priced up a clutch kit and release bearing assembly with the dealership and they came in at

£300+ altogether!!!! This sounds expensive to me. Anybody know what these part numbers are? I was thinking of shopping around and getting this kit from elsewhere.

Your help is appreciated.
