  • I know "old" post, I have changed my gear knob like rob-e has, Although it stayed at the same height as original, having that steel metal piece below made it the hole thing taller than it really is.

  • I for one have never gagged on a knob.

Did this come with a replacement leather gaiter?

yep, as per the post that you quoted, although the pic on the ebay auction only showed the knob, what actually arrived in the post was a knob AND leather gaiter.

it's a bit irrelevant though, as the gaiter you get with the audi knob is of course, and audi gaiter which won't fit the octy console - you need to swap the gaiter over from your oe skoda knob to the new audi knob before you fit it, carefully (kit !)

:)

Ha Ha Rob!! :) When i get the next one il send it over to you for your expert knob handling!! :)))

Has anybody swapped the dirty great big DSG knob for a Scirocco one?

I HATE the Skud DSG knob - it's too big and makes me gag :hi:

sorry to bump this thread, can anyone tell me how to remove the OEM gaiter from the OEM knob, I cant see an obvious way to do it and have tried as much force as I dare before I break it into pieces!

No direct method that I can remember Daz. Brute force and ignorance rings a bell :D

Sorry I can't be more specific.

lol, brute force prevailed. Ive got it fitted now, well pleased with look and feel of it, havent test driven yet, I do find the gaitor is a little tight at the top though, perhaps it will loosen!

Good stuff. Million times better and nice that the leather perforation matches the style of the steering wheel (I think anyway! :nerd: )

You got a short shifter fitted? Can't remember, but that's the best combination

The gaitor comes off with a bit of a tug and twist but be careful!! when i did mine i broke two of the white plastic splines!! Manged to salvage it but was a close call!!

No, not a description of a particular driver... quick post of a pic of my new gear knob.

When I got my FL last week I took an instant dislike to the std vrs knob - too much chrome which is at odds with the brushed alu trim in the rest of the cabin plus its an ergonomic disaster - completely the wrong shape for your hand.

I'd seen a pic some time back on here posted by magic62 showing his carbon effect interior - he'd fitted an Audi S-Line knob so I went the same way.

Its brushed alu, so matches the interior AND the leather is perforated in exactly the same way as the steering wheel, so it looks more "factory" than the original IMO> check out the pic. AND its a pleasure to hold.

Also, I'm well aware that this thread has great opportunities for double-entendre and knob gags - so don't hold back - give it your best shot emoticon-0105-wink.gif best gag wins a lightly damaged chrome skoda gear knob! [postage not included]

Well, how time flies.. that post above was me fitting an audi knob into my 2010 vRS - that car has now gone and been replaced by a 2012 vRS and guess what, it's had a new knob!

Ok, so this wasn't originally on the list of planned mods.. but I guess I got a bit "click-happy" over the christmas break and hit a buy-it-now after a few sherberts.

:giggle:

My 2012 car has the newer superb-type knob which is better than the older design, but still not exactly stylish.

Rather than have exactly the same again, this one comes with red detailing around the top which matches nicely the red stitching my car has. It also has the perforated leather too like the last one which ties in very nicely with the perforated leather the vRS has on it's steering wheel.

Can't seem to take a decent pic on the blackberry, but here's the best I have:

And here's what it really looks like :wonder:

Looks good i think?

Spot on Rob. Looks great, like it should have been there all along (which, IMO, it should be! :))

Nice knob Rob

Lots of them round here

I like the Audi ones nice, the fl vrs one is horrid, the pre facelift is way nicer.

I know "old" post, I have changed my gear knob like rob-e has,

Although it stayed at the same height as original, having that steel metal piece below made it the hole thing taller than it really is.

For that reason I cut the rod about 2 centimeters to lower it. Pics before the cut
