New Fabia vRS Engine - AutoExpress

Featured Replies

Might be wrong section but just read this in Auto Express re-new Polo Gti where there's the following:

"..................................it gets a 178bhp 1.4-litre supercharged and turbocharged four cylinder petrol engine hooked up to a seven-speed DSG twin-clutch transmission."

"Using the same engine as the SEAT Ibiza Cupra – and the upcoming Skoda Fabia vRS – the 1.4 TSI engine boasts 250Nm of torque and should launch the Polo from 0-60mph in under seven seconds and onto a top speed of 140mph. That makes it almost as fast as its big brother, the Golf GTI.

Standard transmission is a seven-speed twin-clutch gearbox, complete with steering wheel-mounted paddles. It will be paired to VW's clever XDS traction control system which electronically mimics a limited slip differential."

Back on topic though, I think that is the assumed combination for the next vRS.. No diesel, Babs is beside him self but I think he'll get over it.

This should be in the Fabia2 section, but the Fabia should be the same except with 170BHP apparantely (maybe to keep the emissions and economy competitive as the Fabia is a bit more brick shaped than the Ibiza and Polo)

Yes done to death on the Fabia II forum this. And I'll say what I say on there - absolutely no market for a small warm DSG hatch and with the VRS allegedly priced at £16,000 + they will sell the square root of f*ck all.

VAG will be in trouble then seeing as they'll have three of them!

It's all relative. imho only a complete halfwit would pay £18,000 for a polo gti, or £16,000 for a Fabia II VRS seat blah blah blah etc etc etc  , when the following can be had for similar money:

- a 2,000 mile 09 plate Impreza 2,5 wrx can be had from a main dealer for £15,000

- 58 plate, 12,000 mile c180 £17,000

- 58/09 plate 10,000 mile 318es £18,000

- 59 plate delivery mileage Brera £18,500

- 59 plate delivery mileage Astra VXR £17,250

And these are screen prices before haggling commences.

I've been in a mk5 golf with this engine with DSG in gti inters 2years ago and it was hell of a nippy motor! Should be fun in a fabia

dsg in a small hatch yes! but the main reason skoda did so well with the fabia vRS the first time was its price, 11990 was cheap for what you got!

Sounds impressive, but price is a big no-no! I remember my Brothers Renault 5 GT Turbo, that was quick and great fun, lets hope they do the same with this

This weeks AutoExpress has a group test of a load of cars which includes the Superb and the Yeti. The Superb did quite well, I'll let you buy the mag to find the results.

As mentioned above, the Fabia II vRS has be mentioned in the Fabia II forum too many times.
