Noisey Heaters but no air?

Featured Replies

I picked up my 05' plate VRS last night, however when driving home I noticed that the heaters weren't working as good as I'd expected. I pulled over and had a play with the controls. No air appears to be coming out, I can hear the fan going from slow to fast as I set it, but very very little comes out. Putting my head in the passenger footwell I can hear loads of noise coming from the left hand side of the pollen filter. Pullin the plastic retaining cover off the air is blasting out, but it apears to be getting stopped by the filter.

Could it be due to the wet pollen filter, the cad had just been valet cleaned. Anyone else ever had water ingress into the pollen filter, if so, what are the causes?

I'm going to try pulling the pollen filter out and see if that's the block of air flow.

Just thought I'd ask to see if others have had this issue.

The tiny bit of air that does make it past it nice and hot, however it's more of a trickle as apposed to a blast.

Cheers in advance.

Is the Climatronic maybe in recirculation mode? If so, press "Auto", set a temperature you like, and forget it unless you need demist!

I've had it on all setting, AC on, AC of, recirc, all off, slow, fast, hot, cold, etc etc.

Always the same, I can only get the screen to demist if I set the heating of hottest of hot and full power. Loads and loads of noise from the passenger footwell and very little action.

I bet the pollen filter is choked solid, as they often are.

For reference, Fabias never had that, not even as an option. Only the semi automatic dail controlled system as opposed to the digital ones.

UPDATE.

I took the car to the local Skoda specialist in Basingstoke as I'm working in Reading. £14 later for a new pollen filter and all is well. I had a look at the filter last night in the dark and it didn't appear that bad, however when we dropped it out today in the daylight I don't think it's ever been changed during the life of the car.

That was all that was blocking the air flow, terrible!
