LED front side light HELP

Featured Replies

VOSA decided to check all the taxis in my area last night at 11PM

When they checked mine all they could find was my side lights where blue in colour,

I bought a pair of LED side light bulbs in August and they have been in since, they then called the traffic police over and the police said they where blue told them they where briliant white but they would not have it

I could have been put off the road until they where changed but they gave me 2 weeks after I informed VOSA that I did not have the removal tool to get them out :)

Anyway need a link to somewhere I can get actual white LEDs with no dash warning from not the ones with a blue tintxenon_all.jpg

Mine look like the top right in this picture, even though it said briliant white on the packet

Hi,

Do you know if they are any brighter than the philips blue vision ones?

james,

No offence but why **** about with the lights in the first place?

LED sidelights are rubbish anyway because they don't utilise the reflector correctly and IMHO look pretty chavvy. You'll notice the above pictures are of Clio's .......enough said! emoticon-0136-giggle.gif

Not all lights look chavvy and don't use the reflector properly

The SMD one's i linked actually work quite well and apart from the fact that they are "properly" white not yellow like normal W5W bulbs you would think they were normal OEM bulbs

The chav ones are the ones that are just one forward facing LED that usually some mong in his clio has blue LED's which are illegal.

THE the philips blue vision ones are not yellow just a nice crisp wight light but could do with being a bit brighter.

James.

I have the bluevision side lights and they are a crisp white light and look good too. Try those instead of LEDs.

Trust me put an LED bulb in and you will see the phillips bluevision are VERY yellow in comparison

I'm considering fitting LED sidelights to my Fabia vRS. I have xenon headlights and the side light bulb is positioned below the main beam bulb, so I'm a little concerned whether heat from the main beam will adversely affect the LED. I like the look of these SMD CAN BUS bulbs as they shouldn't trigger the bulb failure warning, but how do they cope with the heat from the mainbeam? Any feedback from those who've fitted the SMMD bulbs? Thanks for any help.

Bump.

I ordered a pair from the link VRS CARL mentioned and they arrived last week but due to the weather i could only go out and fit them today, well one of them anyway.

I tried both sides of the board and on both sides of the car then all of a sudden it started to work for a few mins then stopped and would not light up again, I tried one of the ones I took out and that did not work either so i tried a normal bulb and that worked so what has gone wrong??? its passenger side that wont work

Send them back to HIDS4U thats all i did as the first pair i got did the same thing

Always passenger light for some reason.

But the ones i have now work fine and have for the past few months

Thanks Carl, I have sent an email to them asking for a replacement I also asked them to check its working first

Anyone else with the LEDs from HIDS4U that flash alternately a couple of times (dimly) when you turn the ignition on (before starting the engine)?

Mine do :D

Carl, do you need xenons for these to work?

Nope :D

The law has changed then, it used to be legal as long as the side light bulbs were the same colour.

Carl do you have a pic of them installed and working in your octavia? I'm still dubious about LED's, but I don't like the yellow light against the Xenons.

You cant see the 2 LEDs as there side mounted, so they use the reflector. all you see is a white light.
