Delay to Factory Order - CR140 TDI (Elegance) 4x4

Featured Replies

Hi All, I called my dealer today to find out if our Yeti had arrived in Sheerness (UK), only to be told that our order originally scheduled for Build Week 6 has know been delayed to Week 10.

This is somewhat concerning given the history of the order which we originally made on 7/11/09 prior to the new ordering system. That order, I was told, unfortunately was not processed due to complications with the new Skoda ordering system. The car was re-ordered on the 27/11/09. At this point, I added to the spec. and change the colour to Steel Grey. So going from the second order date, it appears we are looking at 14 weeks just to build the vehicle - how long it takes to ship at minimum must be a week to 2 weeks. This delay is getting close to the Government's Scrappage terms & conditions which I believe demand manufacturers to supply cars to customers within 4 months.

If there are further complications, I'm not sure what my decision will be..?

I just wondered whether other forum members are experiencing the same delays on this model, or perhaps the factory simply built this car without the correct options......

Any advice gladly received. Best wishes to you all, Jonathan emoticon-0106-crying.gif

I ordered (a 1.8TSi Elegance with all the options ticked except for the tow bar prep) in the first week of January and my date has now been put back to end of April - beginning of May - so about 16 weeks in all if it comes in on time!

Still, everything comes to those that wait. :)

Thanks for the prompt reply, so it appears the delay is not just with CR140. Fingers crossed then, best Jonathan

My Superb Combi has been put back from end of March to end of May and my leasing company has all sorts of juicy vehicles that they're offering instead. For the same money I can have a Jaguar XF 3.0D next week. And frankly I'm getting a bit bored of paying over the odds for a Passat and I'm dreading the next service indicator light coming on because it's a double-whammy - cambelt and gearbox oil change and I reckon it could go to £900, so I suspect I'm not going to be running a Superb...

Hi,

me thinks the Yeti's popularity is possibly greater than Skoda at first thought, plus they are now available in a few more countries than when I ordered mine. Factories in Russia, Ukraine and India are due to come on stream in the near future but I think they will still rely on the parent factory for some parts.

As a side note SUK gave my dealer duff info, so I had to re-order when the first one turned up at the docks missing an option.

Regards,

TP

Hi Jonathan,

That is bad news...It seems like something went badly wrong :'( with your dealer / ordering)

Or maybe we just got lucky- our experience so far is as follows:

We ordered our Yeti Elegance 2.0 TDI CR140 4x4 -Cappucinno with Panoramic Sunroof and Silver roof bars on 25th November.

It arrived at the dealer 2 weeks ago-End of the 1st week of Feb.

Earlier, by about 3 weeks, than we expected... :) as had been told 12 weeks by dealer and had Xmas/New year in the middle!

It is now having options fitted-detachable tow bar, mudflaps, floor mats etc... ready for 1st March collection with a new 10 plate!

I hope your Yeti gets to you early like ours

Best wishes

Lady Penelope

Hi Everyone, thank-you all for your replies. TP, as usual great info! Helgestahill, interesting that you've experienced the same issues with the ordering system. Great that you have been offered electric seats. This must be a EU option, unless SUK have released this without telling anyone.

Guess, Lady Penelope your the lucky one, so have a great March 1st!

Here's hoping Helgestahill, they get the options right at the factory... Don't think I could handle that one.

Best wishes to all, Jonathan

I ordered my CR170 when they were first available for order - 16 September and took delivery 12 December. Build dates varied (both directions) and there was the dreaded vehicle tracking system update in the middle that may have slowed things down a bit.

Be patient - it'll be so worth the wait! emoticon-0144-nod.gif

Ordered my SE on 18th dec.

there was a two weeks close down over Christmass

build week was 10 but is now week 11 (15th March) delivery some time mid April.

final build week confirmation will come through on 1st March

Looks like nearly all yetis ordered after November are getting delayed.

I'm told its due to their popularity.

  • 3 weeks later...

Hello there,

We ordered our yeti on start of 3rd week of 2010 and they confirmed it was built during 9th week, so with shipping hopefully within 3weeks we should get to see our new yeti by the end of march, which would give us 10weeks from ordering date. After reading the previous posts I'm now not sure what to expect as everyone had such a bad experience with the ordering system... Hope it comes on time and you all see your cars soon too ;)

I ordered mine the third week of January and have just been told it is being delayed until week 18 which is the first week in May I believe. :'(

That will be why the ex demo prices are holding up!!!!

Could some of the delays be caused by changes/updates to the production process, eg addressing the lights issue, firmware updates etc. No way of knowing for sure I guess but the delay might conceivably mean that you end up with a latest-spec vehicle.

I'm in a similar boat - ordered my SE 110bhp 4x4 on last day of Jan and the dealer still hasn't received a build date from Skoda. They have acknowledged the order but no idea when its going to be built. I was told by Dealer that the scrappage money is reserved for 3 months, so if I don't get it by end of April we could be in stale mate as I am not going to pay an extra £2500 for it just because Skoda can't deliver what they have promised in a reasonable timescale.

My wife just ordered a new Vx Corsa last week and was told 3 weeks for delivery - ok, she didn't get for factory upgrades but it looks like she'll get her new car before me now!

Not a happy bunny.

Fuzzy says 'Dont be an unhappy bunny!'

Dealers get updates on build weeks at the beggining of each month, (so I'm told)

If it came to the crunch could you pay the balance before delivery to be in time with the three month scappage scheme.

I'm sure the dealer wont want to loose your business.

Ordered Yeti SE 2.0 TDI 140 on 10 Dec 2009. Options Columbus Sat Nav, Metallic Paint, Spare Wheel, Off Road & Hill Hold, TPM, Auto Dim Mirror & Rain Sensor. Scheduled build week 07. Dealer informed me it was in the UK on 26 Feb (end of week 08) so I guess it was built ahead of schedule!! Collected SM from the dealer yesterday (10 Mar) - very impressed with build quality, no rattles or squeaks. No snow left near sea level so only done about 70 miles of road running.

Ordered 9th January, build week 11 confirmed last week, delivery ???? but hopefully not too far away. Are people with delayed orders choosing lots of options or DSG?

I ordered mine the third week of January and have just been told it is being delayed until week 18 which is the first week in May I believe. :'(

sooooooooooooooo sorry to hear that. :S the reason might be that we didn't put any special extras in it? :wonder:
