Rear brakes , where best to buy ?

Featured Replies

I need to replace rear discs and pads on the Fabia VRS.

Been searching the internet and have found lots of sites with pads and discs going for about £30 all in, but they appear to be unbranded. Im inclined to spend another ££25 or so and but something with a name eg Mintex or Delphi.

Anyone bought any recently and where from ?

I have found the parts from EUROCARPARTS to be pretty good. Last set i got from them were PAGID discs and pads - no issues with them at all.

I too have recently replaced my Rear brakes with stuff from Eurocarparts

I bought PAGID pads and discs, and they have been awesome so far.

Dead cheap too, I think the pads were only £20 and the discs weren't much more

Thanks for that - I decided to leave the unbranded stuff alone. Also you have to look at the Delivery costs too, which often dont appear until you are about to "checkout". Eurocarparts offer free delivery.

B) Don't forget to wind back the calipers on the rear to release them. cheers - Stuart

All done.

I got the Laser rewind tool from ebay for £16 and it worked very well - making the job of pushing back whilst rotating the pistons very easy.

The discs went on & off without removing the caliper carriers - just need a good thump with a club hammer.

Pads staright forward to insert too - just need a small screwdriver to ease the anti-squeal shims around the pads .

I also replaced the bleed nipples (had problems in the past with them).

Took about 2 hours with coffee breaks.

Seeing as how the rear brakes do next to nothing anyway, and they usually get changed beacuse the discs has corroded too much, IMO the cheaper the better. Of course, branded pads will be better on a higher performance car, and especially on the front of the car, but on the back end, I wouldnt worry about it TBH...
