Skoda Yeti SE - Hill Hold Control

Featured Replies

Hi,

Is there anybody here that has the Skoda Yeti SE 4x4 with Hill Cold Control?

In the brochure this is shown as an option for the SE, but my dealer couldn't find on the system when I placed my order.

Don't know about UK specs, but on the Danish Ambition, it is included. Not an option.

Works too

Hi,

yes Hill Hold is an option on the SE.

Not unusual though for options to be missing from the system, had this issue with the off-road option with my first order. Dealer rang SUK their response led to me reordering when the Monster turned up missing off-road.

Need to persist with the dealer and get everything down on paper as to the spec required.

Regards,

TP

Hill hold control with ESP incl ABS, EBV, MSR, ASR, EDL,

MBA and DSR (4x4 models only) £72.34 £12.66 £85.00

Option shown on page 16 of the brochure. Was £80 when I ordered. Even Yetis are subject to inflation! but it should come back to £80 or below with the weak Euro.

I think you do need a 4x4 model.

Thanks for the responses.

Dealer has found the Hill Hold Control option so I can now place my order.

The long wait until I get my Snow Monster now begins!

I am interested in how well it works because Autoexpress tested a Scout a few weeks ago, they loved it but disliked the Hill Hold control. They thought it made you stall more because you only had to miss time the clutch release slightly, and it engaged against full brakes on, so causing a stall, or very close to one.

Is it reasonably fool proof in the Yeti?

'Auto Express tested' Oxymoron.

It works well for me when I remember ti use it

If it is anything like the system on the Freelander 2 it is brilliant, but does need getting used to.

I was under the impression that it starts to release the brakes as soon as the clutch pedal starts to lift. I've used it a few times in mine and it works brilliantly.

(I normally do conventional hill starts with the handbrake rather than sitting on the foot brake blinding those behind. I save the blinding to people in front with the Xen*ns....)

or Halogens! LOL

I think the brake hold is on a timer and lasts for about two seconds. I have known it to release and let the car roll if I have hesitated too long. It needs a harder than normal push to set the hold function so light use of the brakes can be made while not setting the hold. It also works when reversing - very useful.

The brochure actually says that it's included within the off road button if you read the paragraph at the start.

Turns out that's an outright lie though as I've unfortunately discovered. Even the dealer thought it should be included and only when we took him out in it to a local hill did he find it isn't after all.

I love the other bits about the car but I'm not too happy to have committed to three years of finance on a car and waited 16 weeks for it only to find it doesn't do what I was told it would...

Love it

I have it on my Scout and love it, never stalled either, it isn't difficult to use.

Is there a way to extend the 'hill hold' lock delay time - currently about 2 seconds? On the Citroen I just got rid of held the car until the accelerator was pressed.

Don't think so.

Don't think so.

Oh bu@@er! :wonder:

I found the AutoExpress comment weird - I've got hill hold on my Scout and it's absolutely fine. The brake releases as soon as you release the clutch - it's really good for hill starts in steep and/or slippery conditions. You have to be pretty lead-footed to stall (for the diesel at least).

Works well for the Petrol too.

Instructions from the manual.........

Uphill Start Assist

The uphill start assist makes it easier to start off on steep hills. The system assists

a start off by holding the brake pressure produced by the brake pedal actuation for

approx. 2 seconds after releasing the brake pedal. The driver can therefore move his

foot from the brake pedal to the accelerator pedal and start off on the slope,

without having to actuate the handbrake. The brake pressure drops gradually the

more you operate the accelerator pedal. If the vehicle does not start off within 2

seconds, it starts to roll back.

The uphill start assist is active as of a 3 % slope, if the driver door is closed. It is

always active on slopes when in forward or reverse start off. When driving downhill,

it is inactive.

I had it on my last 2 octavias and it was really useful. Not really noticed it on the yeti, I guess I'm just so used to it I don't notice it

It also gives the effect of a power assisted handbrake too. If you stop on a hill, press the brake pedal a bit harder than just enough to hold the car & apply the handbrake, the handbrake requires much less effort to apply - as if it is power assisted.

Same goes for releasing the handbrake when you are ready to restart. First push the brake pedal to trigger uphill-hold, and releasing the handbrake requires much less effort.

I love it!
