Feeling guilty about overtaking in my Fabia

Featured Replies

lol there not good job im 19 then isnt it

That's strange, I didn't realize that 14 year-olds were allowed to drive on the road...............

(As opposed to those who have an I.Q. of 14, and this poster appears to qualify on both counts...)

The dude's dyslexic, lay off him.

Babs, being right out of crystal balls I wasn't aware of him being dyslexic, however i wasn't criticising him for being dyslexic but for admitting to driving like an idiot.

1) Driving as if on a track........

2) Driving to purposely annoy other drivers.......

Driving is far too serious an activity for idiots to take part in (whether they are dyslexic or not...)

Bob.

Clearly says it in his sig... but anyway.

I guess it's another case of the tone being absent from text on the internet. I understood it, but I can see how others might not have interpreted the light-hearted nature of the post.

:smirk:

stupid question but what hapens if a patrol car is clocked by a speed camera? :giggle:

We get a ticket like everyone else! Notice of Intended Prosecution gets sent to Chief Constable - patrol car VRM is traced, driver is traced, £60 and 3 points. We ain't above the law! The only time we can exceed the speed limit is if we're driving to an emergency graded level 1.

Not my favourite source of news, but....

JUST one in every 1,800 cops who trigger speed cameras on duty gets punished at Britain's biggest police force, it was revealed yesterday.

Lots of level 1's :)

I also seem to remember there were a good few cases where police officers said they didn't know who was driving, after this loophole was closed for everyone else.

Oh dear...

Oh dear...

oh dear indeed, im guesing a level 1 emergancy is blues and two's,

also im sory if i did make some people anoyed at my post i do admit i phrased it slightly wrong, i do ocasionly drive like a bit of an arse however that is down to nievity and moderate peer presure but always within the limits of conditions roads car and self skill, having raced cars and bikes for a couple of years and undoergoing some advanced training i do consider myself a good driver and also quite often a cautious one (having been Tboned by vans on a motorcycle and cliped by cars ect ect) I must say there are complete idiots about my age (boy racers and the like) who think they can drive like button but are sorely mistaken.

Again im sory if i put across the misconseption of a cocky T**t and im sory if i anoyed anyone. :(

moderate peer presure

Peer pressure is  evil

Sure is mind you i dont give into it that often or at all in a car (showed off once but decided quickly i was being a prat and stoped) to much life in your hands.

No problem at all mate, it's just that I have a PhD in Grumpiness and couldn't resist sending my post..... !

Happy days ! emoticon-0148-yes.gif

Similar tends to happen to me if I shoot past someone in a flashy BMW or 4x4, they then make it their mission to over take (or something undertake me) in my Fabia at all costs and speeds. I once asked a colleauge at work if I past him coming into work that morning. When I confirmed I drove a Fabia he said no, but he'd never admit it even if I did due to the car I have.

well its funy to think that the police use octy vrs's as under cover cars, what a big blow for a BMW driver (boring medioker w**ker is the fave expresion ive heard from a guy at work) to be pulled by a skoda lmao!! :giggle:

Lex2311: They also use stock (not VRS) Fabia's as unmarked cars, too...

Yeah, I saw one for the first time around town last summer when learning to drive - diamond silver Fabia (think they use 1.4 TDI or 1.2 HTP) had pulled over a black BMW 5-series (probably for speeding, as it's common on that road) - remember it, cos I pointed out to my instructor that it was very similar mine in terms of appearance (mine's stone grey), as I'd just bought mine the week before. I know they also use Corsa's for the CID bods around town ...

im guessing it would be the 1.4 tdi bigger economy and more torque

We ain't above the law!

Well off topic now I know, but why is it that all the cop cars outside our central police station either park on double yellows, or don't "pay and display" and the wardens just ignore their cars. Meanwhile I drive round for an age looking for a space, and then pay a small bankers bonus for the privilege of parking.

Apologies for the off topic rant but this gets my goat every time I go into town!

Quite possibly. I just didn't see the badge, and know some of the "town cars" they use are petrols, so wanted to hedge my bets.

Bloody hell! You're a man, you should be smarter more than 50% of the people on the road! Why feel guilty?

I'm a press on driver and the Fabia is perfect for me. Putting the wind up drivers of more expensive cars is a constant pleasure ;)

I think I'm fairly similar to what you describe. A wee bit of pressure to 3000rpm is fine. I don't see a problem in accelerating a little quicker than bimblers, to get to cruising speed. It's not like you're flooring it and redlining unnecessarily. I did the same when I had my scooby WRX.

Unless someone annoyed me, in which case a wee dab of the throttle sorted things out nicely.
