Does anyone actually sell to.............

The dreaded 'We buy any car'

I'm heartily sick to the back teeth with the advert, but it's had the desired effect on me. I just couldn't resist asking what my Fabia vRS is actually worth to them.

£3855!!

Please tell me that they ARE actually havin' a larf, please, and while you're at it, please tell me that no one in here has ever actually sold their car to them, bloody chancers that they are.

You'd probably get more at the local car auction.

Unbelievable. :o

The figure they offered me for my old Octy 2.0PD estate was just £100 less than what I got for it from the dealer so their prices seem to be pretty accurate.

I havent but I always check whatever trade-in price I am offered against what they will pay, often WBAC offer more than main dealers. I was offered 4.2k for my Octy as trade-in, WBAC price was 4.8k so I stuck it in auto-trader and sold it for 5.7k! I know some (very lazy!) people who have used them.

It's always a good start point when trying to value your motor. At least you know that's the least you can get for it.

About £200-£300 more than a dealer will give me. Although that was book value with no haggling, but still - depends upon what your selling maybe.

Offered me £700 for my Golf!

They called to follow up, chatted with the guy for a bit, asked him to check similar cars on Autotrader... £3500!

A mate at work bought a mondeo at the local auction as a stop gap, then flogged it to them for a £100 profit a few weeks later lol

Well I can only quote the figure that their website threw up for me.

What Car valuation however:

Skoda Fabia Hatchback 1.9 TDI 130 vRS 5dr 2005 (05) 75,000 miles

Dealer £5,360

Private £4,640

Part exchange £4,520

Trade £4,270

Cost new £12,380

Still over £400 lower than trade value it seems.

Apparently they will then deduct from that price when they see the car.

Yea, I wondering about that.

This is the price they quote before they've even seen the car working on the assumption that you've described it accurately.

I've no doubt they'd find something to knock the valuation down even further once they've seen it.

Going by the p/x value on mine as a p/x deal from What Car, the gap is even bigger.

I don't think I'll be dealing with them, but will I now receive a follow up call due to me enquiring I wonder?

I only got £1200 for mine :doh::thumbdown:

Got quoted £1365 for mine, What Car put's a trade-in value of £1880 and part-ex of £2070

They just offered me £4785 for mine which equates to 38% of the initial purchase price four years ago. Pretty much what trade in would offer I guess.
