Multi function steering wheel including maxi dot

Featured Replies

I added the 4 spoke multi function steering wheel for radio, including maxidot,

can i assume this means it includes the maxi dot upgrade and not just the steering wheel, that can change maxi dot, if you have maxi dot

Yes.

If I was to get a car without multifunction wheel (most seem to be that way) is it possible to upgrade at a later date?

i dont think so, it would take a lot of work

There's a trhead on this very forum where someone has just done it, done by Shark Performance I think.

Try this link Linky

Looks a bit strange with a VW wheel to be honest.

I value your opinion Steve - even if it's wrong :p

Indeed, but why spend big money for the VW wheel (looks okay, IMO) but then baulk at paying an extra 5 quid for a Skoda badge?? Not as if it could have been that much extra work :S

That is what I meant - the VW badge was wrong. Like when you see Mk2 Golfs with Audi wheels on!

1. The VW wheel didn't cost big money

2. I didn't "baulk" at paying an extra £5 for a Skoda badge - you can't actually change the badge on the airbag :dull:

  1. Fair enough
  2. Where there's a will... after all VW didn't just grow it there?

How about you try it, then post up how you managed it, then we can all copy

Peace man - I wasn't flaming you or having a go. If you say it can't be done then it can't be done.

However, if it can't be done I don't see the point of this modifcation since the car is a Skoda and not a VW. It would look strange and bug me every time I drove the car. It's not like VW is the tuning division of VAG.

That said, it's only my opinion and you value opinions even if they are wrong

It's OK - I guessed you weren't flaming me (whatever that is) :wonder:

The point of the modification is that I have got a Mk2 pre-facelift CR DSG car, which never had an option of having flappy paddles on the steering wheel - they only came on the facelift version. Due to changes in the electrics, the facelift Skoda paddle wheel doesn't currently go straight onto mine, so to get paddles, and at the same time multi-function buttons, I had to go down the route of getting a VW wheel.

It's also given me the option of going for one of these babies

I actually quite like the irony of the VW badge :) I think it adds humour to the interior!

Audi steering wheel is the logical progression :)

Looks really smart, like the ally trim on the bottom of the wheel.

Seems I'm good at bringing old threads back from the dead around here :)

Anyone manage to retrofit the Golf steering wheel controls to a Octy II VRS wheel?

the controls are an integral part of the wheel.  if you want a multifunction wheel in a vrs you need to buy a replacement wheel with buttons plus an appropriate controller.

although skoda uk didn't offer a mfsw for a FL manual vrs mine has one - ordered the wheel from skodateile.cz plus a controller from eddie-nl, fitted and coded by AKS tuning.

If you're gonna do it ,do it right.

Mk3 wheel is streets ahead of the nasty plastic thing fitted to the mk2.

Thank you Mate, but to be honest, I prefer the previous one.

Perfect, this is what I'm looking for!

Unfortunately there is NO PART NUMBER.

I'm wondering, is it possible to put the steering wheel with feathers?

feathers? sorry i don't understand.

btw - i remembered after i posted, that controller ended up being the wrong type - suggest do a scan of your own car first to see what type you have, that should help you get the right replacement.
