As above my AEE is burning lots of oil and its visable that it is as the exhaust is coated in it, my friend also says its smoking when I accelerate. Any ideas? I dont know whether to drop in another AEE lump or go for an AFH conversion the current lump has on done 70k so im not sure what it could be.

i've got a couple of aee bottom ends here if you need them, i'm near portsmouth, you can have them both for £50, i'm not sure if one of them is any good, and the other has about 67k on it

Cheers Tom. I notice when it starts to run outa of oil because it wont rev past 4k and has no pull. I check it every morning and just have to top up as neccesary

ohh sounds like its rings, its not a particulary good motor to start with really they were never designed for 10k oil changes and get very dirty inside. easy enough swap tho why not buy toms 1.4 16v setup it will go straight in to a 1.6 shell

Really tempted with the valver conversion dont fancy another poo AEE lump!
