Upgrading to 312mm brakes - prices/questions

Featured Replies

Hey all, apologies as I think this is most likely going old ground but I've got a couple of questions about upgrading to the 312mm brakes. I think my standard brakes are most likely going to need new discs and pads in the next month or so because I've noticed a considerable change in their performance recently. So my thought is that I'd upgrade to the 312mm brakes off an Octavia...or whereever they come from?!

My questions are...

Is getting all the stuff together a case of buying used as new is just too expensive?

I really wanted to get someone else to fit them because I wouldn't know where to start and even with guides etc I'm just not confident in my own skills when it comes down to things like brakes!

All in, including getting the parts together and fitting, is £500 realistic?

Thanks in advance!

pm for you buddy

Replied cheers

Next steps I really need to check out any insurance implications...and I assume 312mm brakes are alright on Fab VRS wheels.

Mate, you need to come and speak to me about this.

I can get you the parts from work and we can both fit them (so long as it's direct replacement) and it will be a damn sight cheaper than £500

Try more like £155 for discs and pads all round.

Can't get you the carriers :(

....Calipers I can get you for £116 (pair) - new

by the way the £155 for discs and pads I quoted you were for my car..front and rear, so it will be cheaper than that for just the front (obviously)

Speak to ya soon Ols

It's a good job you're family!

Were those calipers new? (just out of interest)

No they came off a mk1 Octavia vRS, however they were in excellent condition.

Just put a wanted add on here, there was one reply to my request and the one that got the sale! Cheers Oggy by the way!!

Si.
