Featured Replies

Had a call today from 0151 240 5000 regarding a job interview, now i cant remember who they said there were, as i have applied for many jobs over the past week. the woman said whe will email all the details, which as of yet whe hasnt.

i tried calling the number back but its just dead, shich give me the imprestion its outbound calls only, and i search the net for the number to which i have had no luck. is there any other routes i can take to find out who it is and how i can get in touch?

Don't think that will work if the number is only used for outbound calls

ok, this is getting odder! (is that a word???) any way, i contacted sky(my sevice provider) hoping they would be able to tell me who called, but they couldnt. but they did try calling the number and it rang!!! but there was no answer(probably cos it was saturday) and she said to t ry another land line, so i contacted my brothers who tried from their houses, no luck! but the mother in law could call the number!!!! so i will now be going my mother in laws on monday to call it and see how i get on. but why can some people get through and others cant!? odd one

if you withhold your number when dialling out, it might be that. Dunno.

Thats the most likely cause, a lot of people block numbers if they cannot identify the caller.

The number looks like a switchboard number, so I guess a weekday would be a better time to call.

Doughtfull it's a switchboard no - most PBX with multiple lines block/don't send out number -so best guess is that's it's a seperate line .

All of our company PBXs withhold our caller ID strings. Not sure why, someone one muttered to me it is because we are a list-x company, but pretty sure that isn't the real reason.

Possibly due to fact that most firms only have one number and several lines off that number -sort of virtual extra lines( In olden days before digital exchanges ,first line would be something like 0123456780 ,second line would be 0123456781,etc .These days ,additional lines are added to the main numbere) .( Was explained to me once ,but can't remember real reason ) - that's for analogue lines .Think firms with ISDN 2/30 forward their numbers, since it's a digital system ,but it's been that long since I worked on that sort of kit .i can't ( and feel thankfull for it ) remember .Perhaps someone who knows system X,Y or Northern Telecom switches can elabourate .
