1.4TDi judder when pulling away

Featured Replies

I get a judder when pulling away. Feels a bit like the vibe you get if you try and pull away in 2nd gear. Someone told me this was normal with the 3 cylinder engine however I am not convinced. I had an A2 with the same engine and it was prefectly smooth. Its done 66K miles. Not sure if the clutch is causing it.

I would be interested to know other owners experience.

I don't own a 1.4tdi, but i've driven a couple as hire cars and i never noticed any judder pulling away. They've always seemed quite smooth, although noisey

Could be clutch drag, try a few high rev launches as this will burn off any clutch contamination. If your car has a dual mass flywheel, that could also be a factor.
