remap Gone!?

Featured Replies

Hello All. I had my car remapped last year and RR when it shoed 210bhp and 250ft lb. I took the car to the dealer last week to have several bits replaced to make the central locking function again and when I picked it up it was slower!

It felt as if the remap had been deleted so with some help from Chicken eyebrow (thanks by the way) and his liquid gauge we did a few tests on the car. The cars boost is 18psi so would appear to stillbe mapped but the power when plotted came up short at 198 bhp and 210ft lb. (40ft lb short!)

Having then been driven in Jamies I think mine still has more power but is down on what it was? Other than this the car feels great and has no fault codes etc..

Has anyone experienced this? Is it possible that rather than delete the map it has been reduced / limited in some way?

Any helpmuch appreciated before I go mad!

well i wouldnt go on what the liquid gauge says buddy a if your maf aint 100% then it will give dodgy results

So are you saying it will have been completely deleted?

More likely the map is still there, but a dodgy MAF is causing issues/making liquid guage give dubious figures is what westallc is getting at.

yes mate its still there and is working prob just fine the liquid gauge rely's on certain parts being 100% and if the maf is reading slightly different not 100% then it will make it read wrong

i wouldnt trust the liquid gauge qnyway its more for a bit of fun used mainly for fault codes and maf adaption

ive seen standard cars 180bhp register 250bhp lol

totally un reliable imho i had one and sold it 3 weeks later lol

We didn't run it to the redline though thats why the bhp figure isn't that high, we only ran it up to about 5k. If we'd have carried on to the redline the graph would've gone up to 210 I reckon.

Your torque peaks at 2.5k revs though and we repeated the run in 3rd and got 213ft/lb torque so I would say the torque figure has definately dropped down from the 250ft/lb AMD said it was after they remapped it.

On your AMD RR graph does it say what boost it was peaking at? If you can't feel the shove in the back any more that you used to get then that suggests the boost is down from what it was when they remapped it.

It definately is still mapped you could feel it when we compared it to mine

Don't forget without a FMIC the power and torque drop a lot if you rag it again and again without giving it half an hour or so to cool down

Bear in mind AMD's rolling road doesn't have a reputation of being all that accurate.

Which make of rolling road is it?

Cant find the peak boost on my print out. I know the RR may not be that accurate but it still feels less urgetn lower down than it was. It is definately still there in some shape or form just reduced? I'm a bit baffled really.

Did a TB reset Sat and it felt a bit better but still feels a bit torque light! Does disconnecting the battery do any more than a TB position reset? I assume I wont need a radio code?

You dont half come out with them....

This ones even better than your recent fmic post :giggle:

keep up the good work

whats wrong with that post ??

known porblem is they read different when the maf is not working properly.. as told to me by the guy that made them as i was the first to have it put on the skoda.

so where is this post wrong ???

as by your comments you must have tested one in the real life???? these are accounts that have happend to me with the one i had and witness by more than 1 other member as we put it on there cars i.e my bro inlaws vrs standard recorded 253bhp so unless thats correct then the post above is good is it not ????

you make out my post are informative but what are you adding to the topic as you must be the man yet you keep in the backround dont say **** have no profile lol

if you dont like what you read feck off back to your other forum that your on bill ;)

As you wish.....

1st you jump to conlusions re a faulty MAF without knowing enough facts

2nd you criticise the Liquid gauge, and then by your own admission say its dubious bhp reading was caused by your own faulty MAF..... why not sort the MAF ????

On a personal note, I do not belong to any other forums and dont give two fu^ks about having a profile on here emoticon-0136-giggle.gif

PS: Thanks for the childish e mail emoticon-0173-middlefinger.gif

i was generalising the product as a whole you chump

it will cause dodgy readings with dodgy maf was what i said on my car it was fine but on others it gave dodgy reading that why i told the op about this as it can give dodgy reading as you cant tell if the maf is on its way out or not can you no fault codes car drives fine

and as someone that has had the liquid gauge im in a very strong postition to criticise it dont you think????

you chump

No....sorry I dont, in fact the more I read your posts the more you prove you no jack sh!t about cars :giggle:

Your not related to Mike Brewer by any chance ;)

well thats up to you but if you havent got anything to add to the thread why do you do one you idiot

you give it all this about other people not knowing stuff yet you give how much help on the forum jack **** you ****

p.s i know abit about the cars lol what do you know ???

As far as I'm aware (from the bloke that makes the L.G.) the MAF reading is divided by 0.8 to get the bhp figure, the torque figure on the other hand is the same figure you would get through the OBDII port when you plug in Vag-Com and do torque logs.

I suspect AMDs rolling road torque figures were a bit optimistic and what with you driving the car quite hard and getting the intake air temps up before we measured it it's possible the torque figure would be much lower.

The turbo system also has a number of valves and pipes (N75, N249 etc) and while these might have been ok when it was remapped they might be starting to wear out (especially since you told me the dealer that was working on it took it out for a 40 minute joyride and got the mpg down to 22 :p ) which would mean the boost isn't as high or not being held for as long as it was.

vrs180. westallc, will you take the handbags at dawn approach to the PM system please?

I don't see anything intrinsically odd here, other than a suspected dodgy MAF. AMD are known for using a fairly optomistic correction from power at wheels to power at flywheel. I'm not clear what sort of correction Liquid Guage uses, but if it doesn't know the actual vehicle mass it will be pessamistic for things like 2 people, a full fuel tank...

I have had a liquid gauge read 250bhp+ when my car was totally standard with a faulty MAF.

to be fair westallc you have jumped to conclusions in the past, remember when someone posted asking what people thought of my car that was for sale, apparently because its done 130,000 it was turbo time ! :giggle:

never conclusion always suggestions a big difference buddy

better to be of some help rather than just sit in the backround as non freedom members slagging off forum members that are only trying to help!!!

i dont mind being critized when wrong thats part and parcel we dont know everthing just what i have experienced i share which is what forums are all about isnt it

so please forgive me but if you dont like what i post then dont read it

Be grateful he hasn't got your number
