Gear Knobs

Featured Replies

Hi,

New to the forum and the world of working on my own car! I'm looking at making a few changes to the interior of my car, and the first one that I want to do (possibly a weird first choice) is to change the rubbish plastic gear knob for something more stylish.

This is my current gear knob:

The gear knob that I was considering getting is this one:

My question is: Is this possible, how do I do it, and are there any other parts I need to buy?

Thanks for your help in advance!

Simon

You will need a gaiter as the current one is attached to the gear knob.

Thanks,

I've bought the knob and the gaiter.

Will this be an easy job to do, and will I need any specialist equipment?

Simon

Its pretty easy. Prise the gaiter surround up from the back and lift it over the top of the gearknob. There will be a clip that holds the knob to the shaft (oooh errr missus) that you have to prise off. You will need to remove the gaiter from the surround, and fix the new gaiter to it somehow, but its all quite obvious really.
