Handles and Locks

Featured Replies

I need some help with an entry and exit problem.

I can't get in the drivers door using the exterior door handle so I have to open another door and then use the internal door handle and the door opens. (new problem)

Drivers door the key just turns in the lock and doesn't lock or unlock it. (been like this for a while)

Passengers in the back can't get out the nearside door using the internal door handle so they have to lower the window and reach for the external door handle. (child locks off, it may just be a cable but I haven't looked yet). (been like this for a while)

I've taken the doorcard off the drivers door but I can't really see what's causing the problems. Any advice please

My front passenger door has the same prob regarding only opening from the inside. As far as the rear door goes, I had the same problem with my driver door. I thought it was the cable but it turned out to be a bit of plastic which holds the cable outer had broken off, cost £10 for one from the scrapyard. With regards to the door lock, I'm not sure what the problem is but I know you car get a repair kit for them. I shall see if I can find the part number.

Found the part numbers for the repair kits, curtesy of fordfan.

There are two part numbers for lock repair kits and you'll be surprised to learn that both of them will come to less than £5 from a dealer. The part numbers are:

1U0898001 & 1U0898002.
