Updating specs after order

Featured Replies

I was just wondering what's other people's experience with adding or leaving out optional extras after car has been ordered (with a known build week) but still waiting to be built (6 weeks to go, to be exact)? How willing and flexible are the dealers, Skoda UK, factory in Czech republic? It was only yesterday that I realized that in order to have controls for the radio on your steering wheel you need to go for an extra option!!! Oh boy, once again I fell prey to marketing hyenas - flicking through the brochure pictures leaves you with a feeling that everything is standard or added for free to make drivers of Skoda as HAPPY as possible.

Anyway, I asked my dealer to add 3-spoke wheel with radio controls and paddles for DSG to my order, and he said he's gonna contact Skoda about it and will see what and if it can be done. Sounded mysterious, didn't really put my mind at ease.

Also, Briskodians!!!

Half of the UK is driving new Skodas since 1st of March, after they waited for 10 reg plates. Where are the posts describing your experience? Or are you eyes still filled with the tears of ecstasy so you cannot write???

PS: If there's been a similar thread posted I apologize for a duplicity

I did not add that option (I added heated seats) but my dealer simply punched the order into the system and it came back with an OK. They did say though that they thought they might have had problems so my guess is that some options are more significant to the production scheduling than others. I cant see why your steering wheel change should affect anything but you never know.

I forgot to ask about the following : If updating the order is possible, will it change the build week? As in the car will be re-ordered and ,here I come, back to the end of waiting list.......

My build week is next week  and on Monday when I asked my dealer if it was too late to consider adding the MDI he said yes, it was too late, but I didn't push the issue cos I'm not really that bothered about it.

If you still have 6 weeks to go i can't see it being a problem tbh

I was given a build week of week 12 and managed to add xenons to my order about 10 days ago so you should be ok.

Good luck!

I decided I'd made a mistake with the colour of mine a day after my order went through. My salesman said that once they'd "pushed the button" and sent my order winging its way to Czechoslovakia that it was "locked" as an order and there was nothing they could do to change it. After a week of daily phone calls and claims by me of psychological assault, they somehow, via Skoda UK, managed to unlock the order and change the colour. I'm surprised to hear that others have managed to add or change options, but as said already on this thread, maybe it depends on which these options are?:S

I was told I couldn't change the colour of mine too, wanted to change from Race Blue to Anthracite... I was told I couldn't change because when I ordered my car (September 30th) Anthracite wasn't an option so they couldn't change it (even though on October 1st it became an option...)

I now suspect it was more that they couldn't be bothered to change it....

Plus they new Race Blue was the best colour and you would be happier with it ;)

So if I'd ordered Sprint Yellow (which I was very close to doing) and then changed my mind to Race Blue they would have changed it for me? :giggle:

Of course they would

Its probably one of those "computer says no" type problems which ia PITA to get around. The fact that plenty of people have done it without trouble does suggest your dealer Raglits is being curmudgeonly though I agree.

You can get away with changing colour on your order, up to about 3 weeks before build date, and it really all depends on your dealer and how bothered they are in keeping you happy.
