Boot Light - Dims itself

Featured Replies

Bit of a strange one, just wondered if anyone else had experienced this...

I have replaced my boot light bulb with a high intensity 2 LED bulb. It's a definite improvement over the standard light produced by the original bulb, however after approx 20 seconds, the bulb will dim itself and the lighting level is reduced by quite a lot.

Both LEDs on the bulb remain lit, however the lighting level just seems to reduce. I don't think it's the bulb as the OEM bulb did the same thing but was less noticeable.

I was wondering if anyone knew whether the power to this bulb was reduced after a period of time having the boot open and is it by design or do I have a problem (albeit a minor problem) ?

Cheers in advance

I have noticed that standard bulb in boot on my estate "flickers" probably about 20 seconds after the boot is opened, but the brightness of the bulb appears to remain the same after the flicker (not that I pay it much attention, as generally in the dark when the boot is open I am in my garage with the garage lights on)

Yeh, I think it coincides with the the interior lights...once they timeout and go off, the boot light also flickers and dims. Also when you open one of the car doors (which obviously switches the interior lights back on) the boot light brightens again.

I think it's just something I will have to live with.

Same happens to me too. I've just got used to it.

and mine does the flicker

I think its because of the timer whichs switches off the interior lights after the doors are shut.
