Hello :)

It's company car time so the other half and me went along to look at the Octavia vRS TDi CR DPF yesterday. It's his car but I'm the one who suggested the vRS. He currently drives an Octavia 1.9 Tdi Elegance which is nice but doesn't suit my need for a big of oomph ;)

Anyway as soon as he drove the vRS out of the forecourt onto the road a great big smile spread across his face and he made some sort of "oooooh-urf" type noise. I knew he was hooked. So, as he doesn't do forums and I do I thought my next step should be to register here and find out about re-maps :D We're definitely going to order the car but it'll take 10 - 12 weeks on top of the form processing time it takes his company and the lease co. to do. We're having the aforementioned model in white (he has to have white - company rules) with the standard seats which I think are lovely.

Options wise we don't have much in the company budget to play with, and unfortunately we're about £7 short of being able to get the bi-xenons which is annoying. I'd like the MDI for my ipod and I'd like him to have the reversing gizmo so that he doesn't back into my car in the garage :D

Just two questions, does the MDI allow you to control the ipod via the touchscreen Bolero unit? I asked the salesman but he seemed a bit vague. And what is the difference between the Maxi-dot and the standard trip computer.

Why do some people knock the vRS? I can't think of many cars that make you smile when you drive them AND give around 50mpg all for under 22k. I thought it was a pleasure to drive, it was quick, torquey, handled beautifully, didn't oversteer, no torquesteer and felt sharp and responsive. It's certainly the best vehicle on the company car list

Cheers

Sal.

PS. Please feel free to recommend any more mods

Welcome :)

Hi and welcome. :) I have moved your thread to the Octavia II forum where you are more likely to get the answers you seek.

Great choiceemoticon-0148-yes.gif

Make sure you order a spare wheel, £55

Reverse parking sensors are good, you get a graphic display as well on the Bolero as soon as you engage reverse.

I went for the full Bluetooth kit as its a complete car phone with external aerial, however not all phones work with it but you do get the Maxidot which is a much more sophisticated computer than the standard one. It gives you control over coming home/leaving home lights, DRL's, etc

Are getting manual or DSG. If DSG you get full MFSW which controls virtually everythingemoticon-0100-smile.gifemoticon-0100-smile.gif

Hi chaps :) The DSG isn't on the company car list unfortunately so it's the manual. We have a set allowance of £305 per month which has to cover the cost of the car plus any options. After we take the cost of the car it only leaves us a few quid for options. Obviously we can get dealer fit options added with our own money, but not the factory fit which is why we can't have the xenons. The Bluetooth kit is a factory fit which costs over what's left of our meagre budget. It's really frustrating that we can't pay to have factory fit options added out of our own pocket.

Welcome, sounds like my spec...Candy White vRS CR TDi with Maxidot, Spare wheel, reversing sensors and MDI.

Great choice!

Welcome to Briskoda

Pity you can't have the xenons. They're worth every penny. I'd do some arm twisting if I were you. Welcome btw.

HI Scoobychick name sounds familiar.

Hello and welcome to Briskoda.

Are you cute?

I would agree, surely for £7 the dealer could work some sort of deal. Some folks on here have even got them VAT free!

Sarge.

Thanks for the friendly welcome

I will try and twist someone's arm for the xenons, we have them on our current Octy so switching back to halogen would be extremely noticeable and right old PITA.

Dolla - I have been known to hang out on the occasional Subaru form ;)

Robshaw - Are you? :p

Whilst I'm here, what's the recommended re-map around these parts?

Thanks for the friendly welcome emoticon-0148-yes.gif

I'm very handsome! :)

Not sure with lease cars if you're allowed to remap them or modify them in any way?
