Brodit ProClip & mount for TomTom

Featured Replies

Just want to double check before I go ahead and buy one....

Thinking about buying a Brodit ProClip and Mount for my TomTom One for my (eagerly awaited) vRS. I think I like the centre mount:

Any thumbs up/thumbs down would be appreciated. Don't want to go and spend nearly £40 if I get it and find it (e.g.) doesn't give great positioning.

Cheers

I prefer to have the TomTom on the door side since otherwise the radio would be blocked. Mine is on a Brodit clip too, excellent invention!

Sorry to "rain on your parade", but I think they're god damned awful things.

Expensive/over priced and just plain awful, I had one in the previous car and not only was it a pig to fit & remove but it spoiled the look of the car, it distorted the dash and was generally useless; I wouldn't want to pay the silly money that they ask for it ever again, in fact I know I won't.

Never claimed they were cheap, but the mounts fit the phone perfectly and if I was to make one myself it would take hours so I'm prepared to put up with the cost.

I've used them in 5 cars now and never distorted the dash or had any problems removing them (the Saab one was a little tricky to install, but still only took 5 minutes), so maybe you were just unlucky....

I had two in my old octy, dead easy to fit and when I removed them as I had sold the car the dash and other trim was undamaged, you would never have even known they were there. I had the centre console one by the climate control and another which sat down by the gear lever. Yes they are expensive, but I couldnt have made anything that fitted so well without damaging the car for that price.

Where did you hardwire to Tony - need to do that on the Fab for TomTom/Talex...

I'm another fan of Brodit/DashMount brackets - a fair bit of cash, but you get what you pay for. Properly designed and what cost do you put on an unmarked dash when you need to remove it and move on? Knocks every other mounting/suction system into the weeds, IMHO.

I am a fan, though I fitted mine to the left side of the centre, same clip but on the opposite side to that Brodit show - keeps the radio clearly in view for the driver, hardwired mine through to the radio power and earth (remove the radio and the thin wires fit behind the dash trim into the radio slot easily and are hidden by the clip itself). I had to remove the clip recently (when a service radio needed to be fitted, necessitating the radio removal for a time ) no marks and it was easy to take out and put back, so I totally disagree with Evening Star, indeed wondering what clip/how he had it fitted.

Had it fitted for a TTG 720 (which I still have) and it was fitted to the centre console on my old car, it was useless as it obstructed the vents; Yes it was solid as a rock but it was always in the bloody way of the vents & even when the TTG wasn't there it was there and it was just plain ugly & it just made the centre dash look awful.

Fitment was a right PITA and it was consequentially removed and doing that was again a right PITA, I therefore prefer to have the TTG on the windscreen at the bottom right hand-side, where it's out of the line of vision, unlike half the muppets I see driving around these parts where it's slap bang in the middle of the windscreen! :wall:

My TTG is now fitted (when required) with a Arkon holder, far better, cheaper and easier to use.
