Swissol Results

Gave my 1998 Blue Felicia Estate the full works with the Swissol Kit similar to the one Jon used to have:D Shame it wasnt painted one of the nice RS colours however ;) But its only used to lug wardrobes and rubbish tho the dump so a sporty colour would be wasted.

The Car was pretty good before I started as I had given it the full Autoglym treatment a week or so ago...

So what were my impressions - The Kit is supplied in a quality black cool bag that would be useful to carry in the boot for use when ever the need arises, or to store away all together .

All the bottles and cloths are top quality and the instructions clear.

I started by gving the car a thourough clean and a squegee/chamious dry.

I then started with the clay bar that I was worried that it would be abrasive - I need'nt of worried it is extreemly gentle and did clean the paintwork as debris could b eseen on teh bar thats a bit like platersine. Next I rinsed and dryed the car. Next step is to use the cleanse bottle to prepare the paintwork for the wax - this is were I made a mistake the kit contained two bottle of cleanse I used the wrong one so I had to go round the car with the correct solution.

Once this was buffed with a towel the shiine starts to come through. The last step is to apply the wax this is easy with the applicator supplied and after a cup of tea as stated in the instructions the wax haze was removed witrh a micrfibere cloth included in the kit.

The final shiine is excellent and does have the edge on Auto glym.

My thoughts are that all the chemicals used are very gentle and would be excellent for keeping the showroom shine. All the products smell really nice as well and are kind on the hands.

Will I be buying some? Yes I will I think the kit is worth the money and is gentle enough for use on the RS and will probably be very economical as the cloths/towels used for some of the application are washable. Will save on cotton cloths.

Didn'y try any of the other products i.e rubber car as I borowed the kit so used my own tried and tested products for black platics/tyres etc.

Looks like it made a good job! :)

Might have to see about investing in some myself. I was a bit sceptical about the clay bar idea. Surely it would scratch the car I thought to myself. Didn't want to say anything at the time though! :D

Has certainly come up well though. Definitely seems worth the hard work and money.

RE clay bar its definately extreemly gentle doesn't seem abrasive at all - Its just like plasticine I think its main job is removing bits of tar and raised objects stuck to paint. IMHO the cleanse lotion is the slightly abrasive one - but obvious with gentle use will be fine. I am very fussy about abrasive compounds and would not worry about using on my RS and thats near as perfect to start with. Like all things its about being sensible and not spraying your front vents with bug and tar remover:D I still have light scratches/swirls in paintwork although a lot have been removed/ masked. I am sure I could have got a better finish but I was conservative with the amouts used as I was borrowing it from someone whos name I have forgot - never mind. Final Gloss is excellent and by the way the amount of time it took was no more than my normal routine - In fact I think it will be a bit easier and quicker.

OUCH !...........harsh......................but true :D

Does it discolour them or what?

Denis ,

Turtle Wax bug and tar remover contains wax and it dries white , and as the one I bought is an aerosol it goes everywhere . Packet of wipes for me next time :D

I really must get some of this wonder product ;)

Oh and John, put a coat of polish on the lights. Flys just wipe off, no scrubbing :D

Re the money. Its the initial outlay that is steep. The actual wax 200ml will do 40-50 cars. The kit John has, IIRC, has the Saphir wax which is about

But why do you have to buy so much Swissol in one go and hence pay so much? If I bought 4 year's supply of dog food in one go that would be 1752kg of tinned Pedigree Chicken and 520kg of Eukaneuba - which is not much less than twice the unladen weight of my 4X4 Estate. If you don't like that example, I estimate that my family gets through 50 litres of shampoo in 4 years but I wouldn't dream of buying that much in one go. grumpy.gif

PS I have just worked out that the dog food will cost

Denis, I think Mark is going to be doing some smaller sized sampler kits. There was a post about it the other day, do keep up old chap ;)

Jon, it must have been hidden amongst all your jokes. I was kept so busy moderating them that I didn't have time to do any serious reading. And if you check my posts, you will see that I am keeping up nicely, thankyou!

John and all,

If you are thinking about getting any products, please see the thread Jon has posted to, within that is a zip file, basically don't pay RRP, talk to me via Mark. Oh and if it helps, a kit pays for a extra hamster in the server room ;)

I finally got an "unrained on" coat of Autoglym on the Fab yesterday, but the results were not special. My Dad got a better shine out of his black accord just using the brush & hosepipe... :( The plus side is water runs off the car now like water off a proverbial duck's back. :)
