Steering on the throttle

Featured Replies

Hi all, I drove the wifes Fabia the other day and noticed that under acceleration the car is pulling to the left and when you lift off it lurches to the right!

I suspect either track rod ends or subframe bushes or similar, am I on the right track? (pardon the pun) ;)

Torque Steer ?????

Torque Steer ?????

That would be my Answer too, witout a doubt

Torque Steer ?????

Not a hope!! its only the 1.2 :rofl:

Fabia's inherently pull to the left, And irrespective of engine size you'll still experience a bit of torque steer this accentuates the pull

So you dial in a little steering to counteract the pull keeping the car pointing ahead, and when you lift off the car now reacts to the steering input sending you out to the right!

Is one plausible theory.

Unless the thing dives straight for the kerb, Then you've got a real problem!

Consul bushes for sure, but check ball joints and track rod ends as well.

Consul Bushes??

Consul Bushes??

check the tyre pressures if the passenger side running soggy this could also cause this :)

consul = console

Consul Bushes??

Console bushes. Bushes in the front subframe area, a known wear point.

Thanks for all your replies, I think I may have a look at the "console" bushes for a start, I'm a pretty competent diy'er,

Is changing these bushes within the capabilities of someone handy with a spanner?

Rather you than me mate...

I think you need some sort of press to get the new bushes in and have to cut out the old ones.

Going rate for the work is around 150quid, plus about 8quid for each bush IIRC.

Mine's due for this job but I won't be doing the work, that's for sure.
