Cheapy Chinese CAN VAG Leads

Cloned hardware is often very poor quality components with even more questionable construction and soldering.

It's not like VCDS is expensive.. I guess I couldn't blame people for buying the cheaper versions if VCDS was £6000 but it's £230 for pete's sake. If you want that capability, then buy the proper gear! End of!

+1. VCDS is a bargain for what it does, and the money you pay includes support.

Come on Incognito, we can talk about this stuff -- it's a controversial topic -- but no need to shout!

The clones can work for old cars (non canbus). In my personal experience they do work (used one for >6 months) but they are flaky and can be annoying to use (sometimes refuses to connect, other times connects fine). To get the best from them i find having the car running makes it better (guess it's to do with the voltages of running vs. stopped engine). Also the same cable that works on one of my desktop pc's mostly, refuses to work on my laptop -- just doesn't work at all. That's a pain.

Point taken about speeding vs. copyright infringement, but to be honest i don't think they're any more related than they both share a right and wrong approach.

VAG-COM rom Ross-tech looks like not very good software to me with an amazingly shabby interface from what I've seen.

True, it's not pretty- but who cares? It's a tool.

I think Ross-Tech have clearly laid out their standpoint both morally and legally, Whether you agree with that or not is by-the-by and the beauty of human nature!

Thread has run its course and if nothing else closing it will save RT dropping in to see if they need to take legal action against Briskoda for any wild accusations that have been made!
