I knew I'd seen that car before somewhere, only with a set of Eibachs, remapped and with a KO4 attached

Very apt... :giggle:

he is to be found in the 1861 census as a groom, then moved to London and became a carriage driver then he moved on from horses to the 4 wheeled variety of transport!

At least your Great Grandfather's Taxi had a spare tyre! lol

PARKER LIVES!!!!!

I can't go back that far but I learnt to drive on my grandmother's Lanchester 18 (new in 1935) with its fluid flywheel gearchange and flip up indicators (you had to give the door pillar a thump to flip the driver's one) It also had acres of room in the back seats, unlike modern cars, so there was plenty of room to stretch out of an evening.

Was it like this 1934 one Terfyn?

Looks fantastic fun and is very long so can imagine the acres of room!

I learnt to drive in my mums old light blue Ford Anglia (yes...Just like the one in Harry Potter!) around fields when I was about 12- we had great fun I used to dare my friends /sister to lie on the roof hanging on and would drive over all the bumps trying to dislodge them. There were 2 trees in one field and we used to see who could get through the gap the fastest and without losing anyone off the top or sides

My son and nephew are following suit -age 13 and bombing around fields in an old FSO pick up!!!

I know, I know Health and safety and all that...

Yes it looks very similar - the front looks the same. My gran had the saloon version with 4 doors but no boot so my grandad had a box made up to fit on a frame at the back, it had three fitted suitcases inside!

I do remember the plate VV4299 and I had the wheel spanner until recently, one BIG nut instead of these silly little bolts to hold the wheels in place.

I wasn't exactly joking; at that time the Hackney Carriage Office still required all licenced hackney cabs to carry a net of hay for the horse!
