cheers damian, would you recomend the adjustable one over the fixed?

On the rear yes, personally I like to be able to tweak it to get the feel just right on the car.

We already have the Whiteline ARBs discounted by over 10% so we're not really aloud to do anymore, sorry.

 This thread reminded me that now the weather is nice I should really treat the motor to something... so I placed an order for a 22mm Adjustable RARB

What's the difference between 22 and 24 mm diameter? I mean, why not always pick the thicker one?

The thicker one is stiffer and induces more oversteer.

Generally speaking you should have a thicker ARB on the front (e.g. an R32 front ARB) if you have a thicker one on the back otherwise the car will oversteer too much.

Most members on here that have rear ARBs fitted have either got a 22mm rear ARB with the standard front ARB, or a 24-28mm rear ARB with an R32 or thicker aftermarket front ARB.

Should be with you on Monday, thanks again.

Well I fitted the bar on Tuesday and I think I disagree with the majority of comments on here about the ARB. Dozens of times I've seen it mentioned that a RARB "totally changes the handling of the car" well... with the 22mm bar on the middle setting my verdict would be a very subtle improvement on the OEM handling... with the emphasis on very subtle.

Not that this is necessary a bad thing as I was quite pleased with the setup as it was and the point at which the front breaks loose has definitely gone a notch or two higher when pressing on.

I'm going to give it a month to see how I get on and then maybe step up to the hard setting.

OK. I messed up.

I started to get a massive amount of clattering and after having a prod and a poke I found that some of the nuts needed further tightening. I always worry about over tightening things (I always hope to find torque settings in instructions to put my mind at rest!) but it seems that I under estimated it a bit!

Now all is tight it is noise free and even tighter handling. Now it is feeling like a real upgrade

I think you did. As It is a real difference. Glad you got it sorted.. I retightened mine a number of times as like you thought they were tight, but you can go a lot tighter than you think..

I angle grinded the left over thread as it was quite a lot sticking out.

I think it was the size of the contact point of the U clamp on the beam being so small that made me cautious. I saw the potential for damaging it, in reality it is too chunky to cause damage to. I'll make sure to check it again in a 100 or so miles.
