missing parts-equipment

Featured Replies

When I received my monster, I noticed that the insulation fabric was missing from underneath the engine hood. The dealer installed one as soon as I reported it.

I just noticed these holes. I thin there were supposed to be some adjustable rubber pads there. Can anyone confirm if they have them installed?

There are no rubber bungs in the hole you indicate. There is a rubber in the immedeate hole to the left and right of the bonnet catch and 2 square rubber blocks on the leading bonnet edge.

Hope this helps

I received my monster 1 week a go (french Experience version): after reading your post i checked under the engine hood.

No insulation fabric.

Are all Yetis delivered without insulation fabric ?

May be someone can post a picture with this fabric ?

Many thanks

In my opinion all Yetis (and especially the Experience) should have the insulation.

Ask your dealer!

What about the rubber pads?

Do you only have the 2 pictured here?

I will check and post a picture.

Could you so kind as to post a better (no offense!) picture of your engine hood with the insulation fabric ?

It could help me when i will talk to the dealer.

Thank you

There was a comment on another thread suggesting that the underbonnet insulation was only fitted to the diesel models and not on the 1.2tsi cars. (not sure on the 1.8tsi car)

Maybe the 1.2tsi engined cars are quieter and do not need the sound insulation that the diesel cars require.

Perhaps some other 1.2tsi engined Yeti owners or James at Allams could confirm this.

@Ray_Green

Thanx!

It is reassuring that I am not missing any rubber pads!

@hhuttmann

Non taken

I will take a good picture with my camera and post it for you ASAP. The one I posted is a crop from a cellphone pic.

I have a 1.2 TSI DSG and like I told you the insulation was missing and the dealer installed one as soon as I reported it.

Hello everyone, my Yeti 1.2 tsi dont has coverage inside the bonnet.

But on an Italian magazine (AUTOMOBILISMO), this month, there is a test of the Yeti 1.2 TSI: in various photographs, coverage inside the bonnet is clearly visible!!!

I have come across a number of VW group models whereby some versions have the bonnet insulation and others don't. Depends on the engine fitted.

No bonnet insulation here...

My car:

Yeti Experience 1.2 TSI DSG 7 (had no insulation)

Fellow Greek owner:

Yeti Experience 1.2 TSI (had insulation from day one)

I wonder if this is a running change made on the production line to reduce costs. Are those with insulation on their 1.2 TSI driving early build models?

Sounds similar to the stone guard tape on the rear doors, some have and some have not :wonder:

My car:

Yeti Experience 1.2 TSI DSG 7 (had no insulation but had stoneguard clear tape, was just deliverd Mar.2010) Note that it was ordered with the offroad package and rear mudguards.

Fellow Greek owner:

Yeti Experience 1.2 TSI (had insulation from day one, but no stoneguard clear tape, early model Dec.2009) No offroad package or mudguards ordered from factory,

Seems that it could be also country specific related.

In any case, all these parts (insulation, protective foil, etc.) can be ordered through your dealer it you really want them...emoticon-0100-smile.gif

Going back to the original rubber stop question; having looked at mine this morning, it appears the Monster was originally designed with adjustable rubber pads in that location, as there is a corresponding contact point on the body panel.

Obviously they were deleted for whatever reason before proper production started.

Oh yes have the insulation blanket as standard on my TDI 140

Regards,

TP

No under bonnet insulation for me either, noise inside or out not a problem.

As I posted elsewhere - I spend £16 on sticky foam noise reduction - makes an already quiet car even quieter.

Mine is a 1.2 tsi with rhe off road package, has the back door foil, but not the insulation

Just a theory but does anyone think that the under bonnet insulation could be to do with heat retention and not noise? Diesels take longer to warm up and so they all have the insulation. The 1.2 and 1.8 TSI engines do not seem to come with insulation in most cases. Could it be that those 1.2 / 1.8s with the insulation are for Scandinavian / colder markets? Got a feeling that I might be talking drivel now......

We have insulation  on our Yeti Elegance CR 140 TDI 4x4

Now there's something new, spot the difference time; Lady P's above with the newer CFHC TDI 140 and my early production CBDB TDI 140 below:

And no it's not that mine needs cleaning

Apart from the obvious cleaning, TP (for your motor not Lady P's immaculate example...) is the repositioning of the oil filler cap. Do I win?! emoticon-0100-smile.gif
