I think I'm the first Yeti on the Challenge thread - and definitely the first XF!

Lady P, was that the ford between Pinvin and Pershore, by the station?

Hi Llanigraham,

No... it is the one over Farlow Brook close to Prescott Mill over the other side of Cleobury Mortimer.

It's not far from Stottesdon where we had a great Sunday lunch 2 weeks ago at The Fighting Cocks- below is a map and description of a nearby walk, also a lot of canoes/kayaks put in The Rea which the brook joins close by!

A lovely part of South Shropshire

Hope you look left and right for kayaks before fording...!! emoticon-0104-surprised.gif

I know...think of what damage they could do to the Yeti!!!

They shouldn't be allowed! :giggle:

Hi Graham,

It's only a tiny little stream but lovely countryside...

but if you want some other fords / country views / lane driving on the journey you could incorporate :

a trip to Clee St Margaret- sweet village with a cobbled ford which goes around a corner,

http://www.geograph.org.uk/photo/1283237

then over and round the Clees , up and over Clee Hill- watch out for those furry white fluffy things on 4 legs and the cattle grids!-maybe take an excursion to the top of Titterstone

http://www.bbc.co.uk/shropshire/content/panoramas/clee_hill_summit_360.shtml

then onto Stottesdon - recomend the pub... if you don't mind a load of ag labs and farmers swearing in the bar :giggle: or a cosy, but slightly "distressed" /run down country cottage feel  combined with roaring log fire, papers spread around for all to read... and with fantastic proper food- non of this chain food rubbish here!

It is how I remember all my local country pubs being like when I was a younster!

http://dinewithus.co.uk/fighting-cocks

and then onto Neen Savage which is a wider/ deeper ford so conditions check needed before attempting to ford

http://www.geograph.org.uk/photo/1665447

If you then cross over the A456 towards Ditton a sweet ford crossing there but brook only goes over road when there has been a bit of rain, otherwise it goes under!

It's a real criss cross area of narrow country lanes and is like going back in time!

Although, and this may interest Aero, there is an airstrip not far away...

Anyway if you and your good lady (or anyone else!) take a trip hope you enjoy it :sun: and take lots of photos of the SM! B)

Great stuff, Lady P., makes me want to plan a little trip sometime soon. I have never been to that part of the UK.

You do realise that from that viewpoint on Titterstone Hill you can "just" see my signalbox!!

www.wetroads.co.uk

list probably every known ford in the UK county by county.
