Alarming test.

Featured Replies

I decided to test my alarm this afternoon but I'm not sure how best to do it. With this being a somewhat public forum I dont really want to say what I did try but I tried lots of things and couldnt get it to work.

Whats a suitable way of testing the alarm?

Depends...

If its an alarm with a seperate keyfob, set the alarm as usual, but use your Key / Remote CL Fob to unlock.

This in itself should set the alarm off.

Also...sit in the car, set the alarm and wait for any arming period to pass.

If it has internal sensors, dance around in the car & see what happens :)

Its the standard factory fitted alarm with flashing red LED next to the drivers door lock pin. Tha manual says it has internal sensors but having tried the "dance around in the car" method I have yet to hear it make a sound.

lock your self inside the car and try and get out - without setting the alarm off ;) edited to say looks like you have tried this already

are you sure you have an alarm fitted? An Alarm isn't a standard factory fitted option.

It's not an Octy RS ;)

On the Fabia, so might work on the Octavia, unlock the driver's door with the key (not the flob blipper), but don't open the driver's door, open a rear passenger one instead. Hey presto alarm goes off.

Switch it off by pressing the keyfob lock or unlock button.

HTH

How about, wind down the window, get out, set the alarm, leave it a minute or so then reach through the window and open the door???

:P

The interior alarm and deadlocks definitely work on my Furby, as I discovered when I accidently locked my colleague in the car as I walked off without thinking about it. He was on the phone at the time so didn't notice it locking either. I then spent the next 10 minutes wondering who was the idiot whose car alarm kept going off in the car park, only to return to find my harassed colleague sat there with people staring at him....
