Blower wont blow!

Featured Replies

The other night I noticed my heater had stopped blowing. Also the air-conditioning button didn't activate. However the temp control does still work. Rather weird...

I know it's a loose connection as I hit a pot hole and in a miraculous turn of events it temporarily fix the problem.

Anyway I was wondering if anyone had any experience of this problem, any "usual suspects" ?

Cheers

Does it work in setting 4, or does it not work at all?

it doesn't work at all, heat comes out of the vents, so I know the temperature settings work, but there is no blow, or AC

Well that counts out the only "usual suspect" that I know of, that being the resistor pack. Blower unit? Sure somebody will come up with something in not too long.

Pull the heater fuse clean and replace.

Just had the fuse out, checked and replaced. Lovely weather for checking fuses!

Still nothing though :(

Check the supply terminal to the fan switch next.

How would I go about accessing that? I know to remove the front plate it just clips out, but beyond that I'm clueless.

Cheers

Can't help at all, but just checking that radio bit turned up? Meant to PM to confirm, but keep forgetting!

ahh yeah it did thanks! Was going to pm to say it had, looked like someone had opened it but was disappointed by what they found so left it... God bless the royal mail :giggle:

Good good.

Mighta been a cheap envolope knowing my parents! Was it still taped badly onto a piece of card?

  • Author

yeah the cardboard had survived, though I didn't quite follow why it had been taped down?

I dunno, may have been some logic when I did it. Think I was trying to add some kind of rigididy to it all, as I didn't want it to snap. Although not sure what (if any) difference it would have made!:giggle:

  • Author

I thought it was for some such reason, however surely it must have crossed your mind that the plastic is far more rigid than the cardboard it was attached to!

It would seem not! But either way, as long as it turned up ok then. . .

yeah, now back on topic, because atm I can't demist my windows, which is a bit of a problem when I fog them up :giggle:

This isn't the thread I was expecting.... :D,

I was going to suggest dinner and some flowers.

^^ I took a slightly different approach, kocking her about here and there. Unfortunatly she still hasn't got the message!

After speaking to a friend who works at a skoda garage he said that it was almost 100% the resistor pack. We had that out and replaced it only to find it made no difference. However while he had his head up my glovebox he suddenly exclaimed "well that ain't right." It turned out that the plug for the fan had come out of its slot. A quick plug back in and my car was blowing to its hearts content.

Anyone had this problem before? Shouldn't come out again anyway.
