Still at the back of the grid?

Which BTCC do you watch Ken?

They were 6th of 15 in the 2021 teams championship and lead driver Jake Hill was 5th overall with 2 wins and 7 other podiums totaling 295 points to the champs 357.

Tordoff massively better than Neate. Good first 2 races for Plato!

  • I'll always support Plato purely because he winds people up but has the skills to back it up, unlike a certain Chris James who has blocked me on Twitter. I didn't say word to him either With Turkingt

I think Rouse is a great driver but his numbers are flattered by the fact that his second title was inherited due to politics  and his 4th was almost a given since he had the only turbocar in the top

MB and Jake Hill have changed cars again...

After last years very successful Ford season, they just announced their 2022 deal with WSR BMW and sponsor RoCKit.

Apparently, Jason Plato is retiring from the BTCC at the end of the season (source Knockhill channel on YouTube, seen on other computer).

New BTCC.

Not as good.

The new hybrid handicap doesnt give the performance differentials at all that ballast and tyre compounds did.

And the new cars are unreliable, how many breakdowns?

I started to read the "hybrid handicap" rules and if I read them right you got so many boosted laps depending on how many laps the race was ? Just go back to the success ballast system it worked well with some cars even performing better when they were running with some ballast

The hybrid system just makes the cars heavier, and the benefits arent obvious - for example Adam Morgan was very competitive in race 2 and 3 without hybrid assistance.

It's just a trendy green change, that isnt so far improving the show, is making the cars less reliable, and more easily retired due to damage.

Seems fair; also, maybe it's a comment on the Tv I was watching on, but I couldn't see these "hybrid activated" LEDs that the commentators kept going on about.

Trendy 'Green changes'  are what motorsport needs to do to stay getting any support from governments or manufacturers.

It does not matter if it is load of b0ll0cks and nothing to do with Road Driving and showroom cars, but then Motorsport in general has little to do with road cars and the general public's cars.

Top level Motorsport never equated to normal cars did it?

BTCC has now followed F1 into building overweight, less raceable cars as a sop to the hybrid lobby.

Based on the Donington evidence, the racing is now poor compared with previously. Alan Gow might finally have lost his magic touch; there's a good chance that a couple of seasons of this will ruin his long standing race series.

Correct it never did.

It sometimes is what brings in new technology.  This hybrid thing is just a mess really.

Not just in the BTCC the first round of the WRC Monte Carlo several drivers were fined big (several K€'s) for driving into service areas not under EV power

Good to see Dan Lloyd and Turks in the thick of the action again, for all the right reasons this time! :)

The whole event was a pleasure to watch, just hope the lad in the F4 race was OK as there wasn't any post event update that I saw ?

Seeing a lot of double race winners this season. The racing is just so much more predictable with no ballast, and no tyre compound options.

Really hard to say this but BTCC is getting boring.

Get rid of the hybrid junk Mr Gow.

It's ruining your product.

Need the scrutineers to find out just how the Dynamics Honda was so much faster than everything else too...

The rest of the season will be exceedingly dull if Flash is able to hold on to that performance advantage.

Totally agree, it used to be pleasure to watch, last weekend I watched the support races more than the main BTCC rounds, love the Mini's and the Ginnetta juniors some real quality racing

Ginetta have just posted that this will be the last year they will be part of the BTCC support race package, 😞

  • 3 weeks later...

7 ponts cover the top 3 with one meeting to go.

And Turkington is only 27 back with 67 up for grabs.

Shame I cant go to Brands Hatch.

I would love to see JP win one last race

I've booked a Tv for Sunday coming...
