New Hyundai i30N cars for BTCC next year to be built by current MG6 outfit Excelr8.

No news yet on BMR replacing the Subaru, or Handy bringing their Alfa back to the races.

Tordoff massively better than Neate. Good first 2 races for Plato!

  • I'll always support Plato purely because he winds people up but has the skills to back it up, unlike a certain Chris James who has blocked me on Twitter. I didn't say word to him either With Turkingt

I think Rouse is a great driver but his numbers are flattered by the fact that his second title was inherited due to politics  and his 4th was almost a given since he had the only turbocar in the top

Ash Sutton signs for Laser Tools racing to drive Infiniti alongside Aiden Moffat

Was quite obvious when he tested the Infiniti earlier in the year. BMR gone for good then ?

Interesting that Moffat Racing don't have 2 licences to run cars though??

Here's the newly published 2020 entry list by team:

BTC racing have bought a 3rd licence (from BMR)

No sign of Handy Motorsports and their Rob Austin pedalled Alfa though

2020 BTCC entries

Team name Number of entries
Aiden Moffat Racing 1
AmD/Cobra Exhausts 2
AmD/Trade Price Cars 2
BTC Racing 3
Ciceley Motorsport 2
Excelr8 Motorsport 2
Motorbase Performance 3
Power Maxed Racing 2
Simpson Racing 1
Speedworks Motorsport 1
BMR Racing 1
Team Dynamics 2
Team Hard 4
Team Parker Racing 1
West Surrey Racing 3

BMR down to one.

MotorSport (magazine) did a feature on "top 25 rivalries" this month: one of them was Jason Plato versus Matt Neal, and they illustrated it with 2 shots of JP using "push to pass" on Matt, It's not just me!

One of the Team Hard drivers Carl Boardley has bought an ex WSR 1 series - 2018 I think.

Great news for Andy Jordan who thought he was out of BTCC when his multiyear PIRTEK sponsorship ended.

BMW have decided to take him on as a works entry alongside Turk and Tom Oliphant.

Mat Jackson back in BTCC 👍

joining PMR alongside Plato.

Hopefully he'll beat Motorbase every time after the way they treated him 2 years ago.

My son has a small watch company in Shropshire and they are the watch sponsors for PMR this season, I might drop down to Oulton Park for that round, just to fly the flag.

The way they treated him? He signed a contract to drive for them then tried to jump ship when the contract drive came up.

Dave is a big guy on loyalty and that was a slap in the face to him.

Loyalty goes both ways though. The guy was a faithful stalwart for Motorbase and by far the driver who brought them the most success.

Dave was loyal to him and gave him hugely subsidised drives because Matt didn’t have the money. One of my friends was a huge motorbase sponsor.

The Subaru didn't last long then.

Once you've won the title what else is there to prove?

BMR chose to develop it because the road car had inherent layout advantages but every time it went quick Mr Gow changed the rules to cripple it anyway.

Flash Back??

Shedden has been asked to do the testing in the Dynamics Honda, since Neal is still pretty smashed up from his MTB crash.

As it happens Audi pulled the plug on WTCR in November leaving him out of a drive.

With only 26 BTCC drives confirmed so far (see above) could Gordon get one of the remaining cars?

Well, I'd rehire him in a Flash!

Matt Simpson's race is run it seems.....

That still leaves 2 cars that aren't on the list above? Should be a 29 car field this year.

  • 3 months later...

Jordan out of BTCC as of last week

Plato/Jackson out of 2020 season.
